My brothers in law are both Spartan grads and have loved  giving me crap over Denard's passing issues over the last three years.

Ahhhhhhh, Kharman is a bitch.

its a personal inside joke

My kid said That's Carmen to my wife after she stubbed her toe when putting him in time-out when he was not quite 4. Cracked me up. /csb Having said that, I have no idea why I threw an h in there.

But, I'm wathcing ESPNU "Film Room" and it's excellent.  Maybe the coaches out there think this is all basic, but for someone who didn't play past 8th grade it's great.  Matt Millen (YTMM) just gave a breakdown of some fundamentals of technique by d-linemen to control their gap.   They opened with some discussion of the way Alabama worked against Manziel, including the famous play where Manziel bobbles the ball last year and then finds a guy all alone in the back of the endzone.  Their argument was that before the bobble, Alabama's d was quite solid.

Anyway I heartily endorse it.  It's the same reason I found Mgoblog.

As a fat, late-40's couch potato, I hereby throw my hat into the ring as MSU QB.  Seems like I got a legit shot at it -- no passing or running skills required.  And let's be clear, I'm not trying to get MSU to win or nothing, I'm strictly in it for the free money and sex with coeds.

Oops, wait, that's probably for Mississippi State, not Michigan State.  My bad.  Uhhh... nevermind.

At this point, one would suggest that MSU's offense is beyond repair, they should just save the scholarships and suit up a cheerleader at QB.

The QB's are not the problem, it is the "decided schematic advantage" offered by Bollman and Warner.  Imagine a bowl game between MSU's offense and Texas' defense!

I wouldn't mind seeing them play musical quarterbacks like this for another few years.

If they sit O'Connor for a freshman he's pobably going to transfer. That pretty much puts the future of the program on the shoulders of Terry, because there wouldn't be another competent quarterback on the roster if he doesn't pan out.

If Terry gets the call this year, Maxwell graduates either way, Cook is not going anywhere - he is like Tebow but without Tebow's awesome passing skills, and O'Connor would go as he would probably prosper at a MAC type school.  They have another high rated QB coming in next year, Chris Durkin so they'd be young but relatively talented. I'd assume Terry, then Cook (scrub) and Durkin as their 3rd in 2014.  Not exactly what you'd want to walk into to Oregon the 2nd game of the season but by Big 10 play if Terry is the real deal he will have a year under his belt and 2 years to go with Durkin passing Cook a year later I presume.

You get the feeling that this is not at all what the Spartans envision when it comes to finding a QB, of course, and it doesn't seem like there is a definite conclusion in sight for them. Here's how Dantonio put it yesterday:

“Above all else, our coaching staff, myself, we want to find the one guy,” Dantonio said Tuesday. “We want the one guy to emerge. I don’t care who it is.”

This is a great question.  It appears Arnett is one of those "not Michigan men" type and maybe we avoided an asteroid by him not coming here.  He doesnt seem to be the "practicing type" ... as for Burbridge ... good question.  It takes a pretty good coaching staff to take a recruit of that caliber and make him turn into junk in just 1.25 years.

.... If Maxwell hasn't "gotten it" by now, it's a sunk cost.  Invest in the younger guys, and hope they have a higher ceiling when they get into the meat of their easy schedule this year (hopefully) and definitely for next year.

This three-head QB and those Sparty fan fools still think they are going to beat M. This is going ti be fun going to EL.

Nah. I'm really not worried about game planning/calling going forward (well, at least for this season). This coaching staff has been waiting fort a QB like Devin and they finally have him. There is no reason M shouldn't win in EL convincingly.

They should find a Gus Malzahn desciple like two weeks ago, hire him, and just ride this out with Damien Terry running the option for the first time in his life. If you can't block em, you might as well option off of them.

I don't watch sparty unless they play us. I complain when they are on our boards or whenever they speak they mention us (envy). Then we , well not me, follow them. wow who cares?

when you are playing Youngstown St.? The offense for this this team doesn't improve unless the Oline gets massively better, and the running game can produce something. And that just isn't happening, no matter how dynamic the defense is.

YSU does have something called an actual QB who believes in completing passes so that will be new to Sparty's defense.  That said YSU has played 2 teams thus far who don't offer scholarships to football players so I would not take much stock in their 2 victories.  They did beat Pitt last year but generally were just ok.  It will be Sparty's best opponent but that is not saying much.  Hollis is a genius scheduler and probably found 2 of the worst 5 teams in college football to schedule for first 2 games.
