Michigan State fans are buying SDSU gear to wear at our game
I'm on my phone, or I'd +1 you. That gif is pure funny.
Spartys gonna Spart
simple as that
As Chris Fowler said, "That's why you're Michigan State."
is a very wise man. Sparty gonna spart. I agree with OP, this proves, once again, that Lil Bro is behaving like a Lil Bro and deserves the moniker.
This is not news or even worthy of a thread on this highly-esteemed board.
I'm still gonna root for them in their game. Big brother is understanding in that way.
Well, the SDSU gear is certainly an upgrade from the traditional juggalo garb.
It's just as pathetic how people here find a way to relate every single thing to Michigan St.. You can't make fun of MSU fans for being obsessed with Michigan while you're just as obsessed with them.
Not quite the same. I don't see any articles about UM fans buying Valpo gear.
Just people constantly cruising the MSU boards and then running back to post about OMG THE HORRORS I'VE SEEN!
If idiot Spartan fans want to waste $15 by buying some SDSU merchandise, well, I'm sure that SDSU is appreciative of the additional liscensing dollars.
That wasn't an MSU message board, it was CBSSports.
Back here and posted it with derisive commentary.
You seem really upset, man.
is more like it.
He just got some bad news on Jake Ryan. And he has no idea if his avatar is a pineapple or a penguin. Bad day.
I think you may have a valid point in general, but I think you chose the wrong forum to express it. This article is both relevant to Michigan and unarguably involves Little Brother-like behavior by the Spartan fans.
Which goes back to his point - who cares?
If he doesn't post his opinion and try to initiate some change of culture on this board, we'll always have people posting things about "Look what Sparty did! I can't believe they care so much about us" - it's the height of hypocrisy, and this post is a prime example. We should be above pointing out such inane things.
"we should be above pointing out such inane things". Why? Isnt that what sports and fandom is all about? Talking about our rivals and vise versa?
It is ridiculous to think that we as a fan base are somehow above this or even should be. And yes, I recognize the hypocrisy in always pointing out who Sparty is obsessed with us and frankly I have no problem with that because for the most part, being a fan of one team includes a mostly irrational dislike of the other team and its fans.
At the end of the day we are really just rooting for different colors of laundry.
And the author was in full on troll mode with the comment along the lines of "There is a decent chance South Dakota State will appear to have more fans than Michigan in Auburn Hills come Thursday night."
I mean, that's a troll hard lede right there. Is there a chance? sure! Is it above 1%? Not likely!
They've quadrupled merch sales! I'm sure they must be selling tens of shirts now! It sure will be interesting to see maybe 500 total actual/Sparty SDSU fans in Auburn HIlls!
But to give credit where credit is due, successful troll was successful.
Running back here and posting every single thing that random Spartan fans do while using diminutive titles to describe their activity falls in line with the definition of obsessing.
I also don't see Wal-Mart selling Valpo gear, it's all about the selection there.
Maybe one of the store managers can put in a request for some Valpo gear before the games begin tomorrow at 12.
an article on CBS sports during the NCAA tournament is not obsessing...you do realize CBS Sports covers the tourney so I was on the site
It being considered obsessing. However, it becomes obsessing when you run back here and post the article with the title "Michigan State proves why they are 'Little Brother'."
so you running on here defending MSU is also obsessing then...cool bro!
The sad thing is that you're completely serious.
wrong. They're our 2nd biggest football rival and biggest basketball rival. If their fans or team pull stupid shit we're gonna arrogantly and smugly laugh our asses off at them. Every time.
You do realize how stupid and petty that makes you seem to most people, right?
But I do realize that my "arrogant and smugly" comment was a direct shot across pineapple's bow.
The whole "we don't even think about Staee cuz we're better than that" is the dumbest thing I can think of in sports fandom and that's what pineapple is trying to shove down our throats. The fact is -as I stated - sparty is one of our top 2 biggest rival in the top 2 sports. We think about them constantly, just in a different way than they do us. That doesn't bring us down to their level in the least.
but you're calling the kettle black pointing out what's sad, given you've gone ape on this topic to the point of obsessiveness
...MSU fans are the ones actively rooting for the team who plays against Michigan....this is the ultimate lil bro syndrome in full effect...I have yet to see any Mich fans actively pursue Valpo gear and openly root against Sparty...Im sure there are a few of them, but not nearly as many as the sparty/lil brothers of the world
Obsessing. I seriously doubt your last claim as well. Michigan's fan base is much, much larger than Sparty's. Simple mathematics would suggest that our fan base has more idiots in it than their fan base.
Simple mathematics would suggest that our fan base has more idiots in it than their fan base.
Simple observation proves the opposite.
And I think you would reconsider.
you keep bringing up Michigan fans on other sites and bashing them...
but you could only know this by reading other sites...and I am posting an article on MGoBlog from CBS Sports...so again...what is my obsession? If the article was about VCU fans doing this would I be obsessed with them? or OSU if their fans were doing it? I'd still probably post the article because it is about MICHIGAN in some way
maybe everyone who "runs back on MGoBlog" is obsessed
Other sites. I have no idea how to make this any clearer; you are not obssessed with MSU because you read an article about them on another site. You are obsessed because you came back here and made a thread about it with derogatory commentary just like a quarter of the people on this site do. Using the criterion of "it is about Michigan in some way" is a terrible criterion for creating a thread.
Did you mention something about obsessing?
WHAT IS THE POINT OF MGOBLOG, buddy?
posting about Michigan sports/current events/issues! So an article that involves Michigan is included in that...go back to RCMB or 11W if you want to troll or hate on Michigan
And if MSU was replaced with VCU would I be obsessed with VCU? I really want to stay away from A10 fandom
you've posted NINE times in this thread that his obsessing over what msu fans do is annoying. NINE TIMES. Get over it and move on...
Math is hard.
Nothing wrong with rooting against teams you don't like. Not everybody blindly roots for their conference.
Rooting against a conference school is one thing. Buying merchandise of its opponent and actually attending their game to cheer against them is another.
I think there is some obsession, but our obsession with them is their obsession with us. It's not like we're usually just looking at what their doing and saying "haha." It's usually something with what they're saying/doing, re: UM.
At least that's what I've perceived.
Disagree. This is relevant to us because it relates specifically to our game. Pointing it out isn't being obsessive.
they don't burn any couches if South Dakota loses. It would probably be Roushar's fault anyway.
Shut up nucky
I was expecting this to be about Jake Ryan and was ready to be super pissed. As it is, I just find this kind of cute.
Can we get a report on what Michigan St. is eating for lunch today also?
I think it's funny they are spending so much money on SDSU gear. The only people who have any reason to be pissed are the meth dealers who will see a drop in their reveune.
Spending money on South Dakota State stuff just to troll us?
Talk about an unhealthy obsession.
I think they should be a little more concerned about Valpo right now. I guess they are the best team ever and don't need to worry about their games.
Michigan's two game pack Thursday night is a separate ticket package from the daytime double-header... I am guessing they will all end up walking around the casino's in their new duds... If they do drop more cash to get in, that is really awesome...
Always buy the full strip. its the only way to take in the tournament experience.
Since when are there casinos in Auburn Hills?
Think buying UM's opponents gear is bad? Wait 'til RCMB shares its thoughts on Jake Ryan.
Yeah, the idiots will be walking around with Mayo Clinic gear on.
I, for one, am sorry they are ashamed to wear their MSU stuff to the game..
I tried to warn you peoples. The Apocalypse is upon us.
In these last days the spartans will lie down with jackrabbits
$50 for overnight shipping? Let 'em spend $70+ on a shirt they'll wear once, fine by me. Beats Spartan gear, though.
I used to be a huge propenent of calling MSU "little brother" and making fun of their little attention grabbing stunts and quirks. But I feel like me and a lot of others here are so over it. Who cares what Sparty does, because I know that I sure don't anymore. We had a nice little run of getting overly annoyed by them, but it's ran it's course.
I don't think it's annoyance, it's just that their level of maturity is amusing.
It's little brother-esque to post about MSU acting like little brother. Who gives a shit
See also: OSU fans after The Horror.
This thread sucks. Michigan played an entire B1G schedule, playing with a few fake SDSU fans in the stands isn't gonna make any kind of difference at all.
sweat the small stuff or small-minded people.
BTW, they are NO relation of mine.
Sign me up for the "who cares" column. When we dispatch SDSU by 15 points, all these jackasses who dropped money on an SDSU shirt will feel fairly stupid. Who knows, maybe we'll get an early Easter present and be able to enjoy a little Valpo over Sparty schadenfreude.
I don't see the problem with all this. It just means there will be more yellow and blue in the Palace. Nothing wrong with that. MSU fans not wearing SDSU gear will cheer for them while there will be Michigan fans cheering for Valpo as well. It happens with every fanbase, no big deal.
Here's the RCMB poster who paid $50 for overnight shipping.
Some of them are great, including, "God we suck sometimes"
You can spot the Sparty fan because he will be wearing a San Diego State shirt.
+1, nicely done sir
If you think MSU fans are going to watch their team, then go change into SDSU gear, en masse, you are delusional. The simple fact is a handful of idiots will do it.
Those SDSU swag are sweet.
Welp, if there's an authority on delusion, it's Domer.
They sell that shit?
This is why I NEVER root for them. They pray for our downfall any chance they get, yet arrogantly expect us to pull for them. Fuck them. Go Valpo, Sparty get Valtrex.
not go lie when I seen SDSU i instantly thought about SAn Diego State Univ. and was like why is sparty buying their gear then I realized that it was South Dakota State. Why can't we get along like the SEC do in their bowl games. The Stateof Mich have two teams that is basically playing home games so we need to come together and make it hard on the non BIG TEN teams tommorrow and Saturday. At least make to next weekend.
Making a sign (a funny one) =/= spending $54 on a t-shirt. Especially when the sign was making fun of Sparty's whiny obsession over us.
Nobody is saying MSU isn't a rival either. If they do say that, they are the opposite end of the Sparty idiocy fan spectrum.
I'm not seeing it. That was a high profile BCS bowl, a national stage, and a chance for Michigan to be "back". And what is the first thought of fans? "HAHA SPARTY SUCK IT WOO LIL BRO YEAH" Besides, I don't see anything wrong with dropping a couple bones to sport an SDSU shirt. I didn't do it, but I don't see the problem. It's funny, it's a rivalry, we're going to be there anyway, it adds to the atmosphere...if you've got some extra cash in your pocket, why not?
On one hand you say Michigan should be above poking fun at their rivals on a national stage and then on the other hand you call buying a SDSU shirt to wear to the national basketball tournament as funny and part of the rivalry.
Do you see the disconnect there?
MSU is a major rival. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot troll. MSU fans need to ignore the trolls just like everyone else. Don't worry, Sparty, we recognize you as a rival. That doesn't mean we don't look down on you when you pull Sparty moves liking dropping $55 on a South Dakota St t-shirt.
The rest of the country sees the Big Ten as a joke and major choke artists so we really need to come together and cheer for conference pride. Let them other conferences know that just because we kick each other butts, we not go let yu do it too.
...and am catching up on the boards. This one made me laugh out loud. They do realize that they can cheer for SDSU without spending $60 on a shirt and shipping, right? The ushers won't make them keep quiet because they're not in the right gear. I don't think Trey Burke is going to be intimidated by the number of opposing team shirts in the stands. Oh Sparty.
