Michigan State lands verbal commitment from WR Kyle Kerrick

Submitted by wresler120 on

Michigan State gained its 7th commitment when WR Kyle Kerrick verbally committed today. Kerrick is a 3 star on both rivals and scout, and is rated the 72nd WR on Scout. Michigan was not targeting Kerrick, and he is the 6th 3 star commitment for State in the 2012 class.

This is also being reported on rivals and scout

Mod Edit: Not OT and more relevant to Michigan football/sports than most of the front page posts. That said, have fun with the national profile MSU.

For every time a rival lands a recruit, whether we were interested in them or not? I'm pretty liberal on not caring what people post, but not sure how this matters to Michigan...any more than any other recruit State, OSU, ND, PSU, Nebraska or Wisconsin gets, and I don't think we need a Hello: post for all of them. Maybe good for RCMB.

First, let me say, none of this is to be directed at the OP.  You and I both clearly haven't made that many MGoComments, and this is probably your first topic given your point total.  That being said, I am sick and mutha flippin tired of hearing about MSU. I'm sick of losing to MSU, and that's probably where most of this angst comes from.

I so badly long for the days when I worry about their football team for exactly 6 days a year, enjoy the victory for 1 day, and gloat as they bring up basketball for the other 358.    Yes, they're an important rival, but mostly because they're in state and we all went to high school with a bunch of kids who end up there.

THEY are not, and will never be nearly the program that we are.  We are the winningest football team in history and they're maybe the 5th most important football in the B1G, depending on the year.

Can we please, PLEASE, treat them as such?  I propose that we put a moratorium on hearing anything about them unless it directly relates to us. Schadenfreude is cool.  If they land a recruit that we actually offered or even sniffed, then I'm all ears.  Until then, WHO CARES about the Situation or Gerard Butler or their "national" recruiting class?

Again, I'm sorry for ranting, but good God I can't stand hearing about them anymore, especially when it's pretty irrelevant what they're doing.

Yea, that's true.  In my anger I couldn't think of other random garbage anecdotes about them which I couldn't care less about.  I was more suggesting that the fact that their athletic department pays "celebrities" to come to games is just sad.

The day we pay Hugh Jackman to come stand on the sidelines is the day I take up metalsmithing to fashion the world's sharpest pitchfork and head straight for DB's door.

on the thread. There are some of here who actually are curious about state's class. It doesn't make us obsessed like some claim. I'm interested in all our rivals' classes and don't see why we should have to wait till tim's rankings come out. It's not like the title gives an inaccurate description either.

ESPN called him a prized recruit and I never heard of him. I guess they forgot about Pitt, Maryland, Rutgers, North Carolina, and Virginia on the East Coast.

hmmmmm, lets check his offer list.

Michigan State Verbal Yes   None
Akron No Interest Yes   None
Boston College No Interest No   None
Cincinnati No Interest Yes   None
Illinois No Interest Yes   None
Penn State No Interest No   None
Pittsburgh No Interest Yes   None
Syracuse No Interest Yes   None
Temple No Interest Yes None
West Virginia No Interest Yes   None

I always ignore the star rankings and go straight to the offer list. He's a Big East/ lower tier Big Ten prospect. Move along, nothing to see here.

We need to actually beat this team before we make fun of them.  And I'd be cautious of even mocking their recruiting - Dantonio's gotten a lot out of 3-star guys to date.

Agreed.  All I can do is congratulate them and keep my head down.  Time was that a win against Sparty was fine and a loss was devastating.  A win against ND was great and a loss really sorta pissed me off (except during their 4 year run when I thought about them at least once a day).  A win against OSU or a loss against OSU were equally emotional and required a couple of weeks to regain equilibrium.

Things are different now.  The next victory over sparty will feel damn good.  If we want to discuss their recruits in terms of how they will or won't benefit future S teams that's fine.  If we want to gloat over their current recruiting situation as it compares to ours we should do so within our own little personal M worlds using whispers and mild smirks.  Anything more is undeserved until we lay the wood to them for about 3 or 4 straight.

This kid did not have a Michigan offer, nor do I believe he was on the verge of getting one. From what I can see this kid was not on the radar of hardly any other Big Ten schools; netting his only other offer from Illinois. Congratulation to the kid, but personally if a kid doesn’t have a Michigan offer I can carless where he goes.

I applaud your enthusiasm, you remind me of a young me like that. One piece of advice: let the board come to you - don't force it, you will find a pattern in the chaos and understand how to avoid being grumped upon.
