OMFG. Please don't encourage that over played song. It gets played in almost everywhere in the country. The SEC laughs at the Big Ten everytime they hear us playing that generic crap.

The SEC can laugh from afar all they want, as if they're ever going to step foot into the best stadiums in the country (Michigan, Beaver, The Shoe, Camp Randall).

The reason why temptation is played on fourth down is because to keep a drive alive it is often very tempting to go for it on fourth down. On third down there isn't any temptation to try for a first down because that is a given.

Rather have Indimidation by the MMB. Awesome.
October 9th, 2013 at 7:13 PM ^
Seven Nation Army is now our "official kick-off jam". Every home game this year Special K has played that song on opening kick-off. Lame.
October 9th, 2013 at 6:18 PM ^
The Marching Band already plays Intimidation every third down, which is good enough for me. We don't need to hear Crazy Train or some other cliche generic thing every couple downs.
October 9th, 2013 at 7:15 PM ^
It's "Temptation" and its followed by the classless "you suck" chant. I can deal with Temptation, the "you suck" is old and lame.
October 9th, 2013 at 7:27 PM ^
Temptation is fourth down, I'm talking about this one that I believe Rich Rod got started back in '08. I've heard it on every third down I can remember for the last few years.
Couldn't figure out how to embed, sorry.

You are correct. That is the only consistent song I can recall repeatedly played for 3rd down attempts. They will mix in seven nation army into a few third downs.
The fans tend to be louder when seven nation army is played so that may come during 3rd down plays which might be foreseen to be big in terms of timing in the game.

This
Always sounds like this
October 9th, 2013 at 6:29 PM ^
Playing Seven Nation Army on 3rd down is counter productive. It's a lot louder if people just continuously yell instead of doing the stupid chant.

That and the old school stuff they play is good too before the games in the stadium before warmups. I remember they played Old Town Rock N Roll Saturday when the kickers were warming up.
But yeah I agree. And this is coming from someone who is supposed to love the piped in music during games based on my age (18). I think they have the right balance right now. Maybe a little more MMB though.

How about a tune from the Tragically Hip? Aren't they Canadian?

Great great band have seen them 20 times or so. I have heard them played @ Yost before.

from Detroit, with its magnificent traditions in jazz, r & b, and rock. The White Stripes are great, but where the hell is the MC5? Iggy and the Stooges? There is no great Motown that we couldn't be weaving into the mix here? Why this lowest common denominator BS?
October 9th, 2013 at 8:05 PM ^
There's a song by the Lo Fidelity Allstars that gets me psyched when I hear it but I don't know what it's called. I think it's a remix of another song that sounds basically the same. It's NSFBG (not safe for ballgame) though, at least the lyrics part.

Everytime Dileo makes a play, of any consequence, Special K should play the chorus of 9mm (<-link) by David Banner. Such sayeth the Al Borges, ahem:
'I got a nine millimeter / Ready to go off any minute so you feel it / Because of the law, I had to conceal it / If you [mess] around you gone make me reveal it'Of course, the better idea is for MMB to make an arrangement of the hook of the song (<-link) which is literally made to be blasted by Bones and Tubas. I can see it now: picks, sticks, saxes, and flags wile out with rank moves. Drumline kicks the beat and horns wail on it....sigh, sadly it will never ever ever ever happen. Because, well, I dont know.
Well, I might but ruffles will get featherd.
October 9th, 2013 at 9:01 PM ^
Good god, you are right. That hook would be perfect for a drum and bugle corp. Just layer all of the horns together. You could pull off an impressive wall of sound,

right here. Hand this man 1,000 puntas and send him on his way.

so why not commission CBN to put something together? Create and slowly refine a list of inobvious classic standbys to one-up the typical NFL and college stupid, keep these in heavy rotation and allow M's great crowds to start developing their own hot and/or silly traditions around them; then come up with one or two great new pieces every week. This is the kind of thing we should be KILLING.

I'm a little tired of AC/DC, especially Hell's Bells and Thunderstruck being played at every sporting event. Maybe that's just because the White Sox use AC/DC all the frigging time and I've gotten tired of it from going to those games, but I'm tired of it.
I'd like to hear them play "How You Like Me Now" by The Heavy whenever we make a badass play, it'd be a nice taunt to the other teams, like after an interception or a huge sack. Plus, the MMB can play it, it's got a bit of horns in it.

All I know is that the halftime show last week included the worst of the worst. They started with Seger (ok), went to Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond and I said "so help me god if they play Journey..." Sure enough, there it was.
