Curious if anyone knows if there is some kind of list out there of what they play during warmups or during game at The Big House?
I think I remember hearing a mix of classics and todays junk being played during warmups.
Need to establish our own third down song. Most schools do hells bells. We do hells bells but on 1st down and 2nd.
Seven nation army!! It's easy... And my fondest memories of that song are the last three notre dame home games. Place gets loud
Play it every third down.
Play it I meant.
OMFG. Please don't encourage that over played song. It gets played in almost everywhere in the country. The SEC laughs at the Big Ten everytime they hear us playing that generic crap.
Don't mind seven nation army being played but not on third down. I Don't want hells bells either. But I would like done song to be our permanent 3rd down song.
The SEC can laugh from afar all they want, as if they're ever going to step foot into the best stadiums in the country (Michigan, Beaver, The Shoe, Camp Randall).
What's wrong with Temptation on 3rd down?
The reason why temptation is played on fourth down is because to keep a drive alive it is often very tempting to go for it on fourth down. On third down there isn't any temptation to try for a first down because that is a given.
I vote for Reign In Blood.
MOAR speed/death Metal!
In the big house, yep I said it.
Nation Army isn't consistent on 3rd downs. We need something permanent in 3rd downs. Example welcome to the jungle.
Rather have Indimidation by the MMB. Awesome.
Seven Nation Army is now our "official kick-off jam". Every home game this year Special K has played that song on opening kick-off. Lame.
The Marching Band already plays Intimidation every third down, which is good enough for me. We don't need to hear Crazy Train or some other cliche generic thing every couple downs.
It's "Temptation" and its followed by the classless "you suck" chant. I can deal with Temptation, the "you suck" is old and lame.
Temptation is fourth down, I'm talking about this one that I believe Rich Rod got started back in '08. I've heard it on every third down I can remember for the last few years.
Couldn't figure out how to embed, sorry.
You are correct. That is the only consistent song I can recall repeatedly played for 3rd down attempts. They will mix in seven nation army into a few third downs.
The fans tend to be louder when seven nation army is played so that may come during 3rd down plays which might be foreseen to be big in terms of timing in the game.
Always sounds like this
Playing Seven Nation Army on 3rd down is counter productive. It's a lot louder if people just continuously yell instead of doing the stupid chant.
Totally agree. There is a disconnect when the music stops playing, half the people are trying to keep up seven nation army while the rest just yell.
I really like the hip hop that gets played during pregame warmups. The students are missing out. I don't know who or what they play, but it's almost always good.
Once the Michigan Marching Band enters the Stadium, almost any other [recorded] music is a crime against nature.
Thanks for bringing students into this, we really need a jab in every thread.
That and the old school stuff they play is good too before the games in the stadium before warmups. I remember they played Old Town Rock N Roll Saturday when the kickers were warming up.
But yeah I agree. And this is coming from someone who is supposed to love the piped in music during games based on my age (18). I think they have the right balance right now. Maybe a little more MMB though.
They're probably listening to music that's just as good.
I kind of enjoy when the team comes out for the pre game war ups and I they play Drake.
How about a tune from the Tragically Hip? Aren't they Canadian?
I don't know but I puke every time I hear eminem. Terrible. Could be worse though I guess, kid rock is worse. Both are horrid. I guess it could be even worse, pop evil is even worse than the kid. It's all so bad at this point though I can't even talk about it anymore.
from Detroit, with its magnificent traditions in jazz, r & b, and rock. The White Stripes are great, but where the hell is the MC5? Iggy and the Stooges? There is no great Motown that we couldn't be weaving into the mix here? Why this lowest common denominator BS?
There's a song by the Lo Fidelity Allstars that gets me psyched when I hear it but I don't know what it's called. I think it's a remix of another song that sounds basically the same. It's NSFBG (not safe for ballgame) though, at least the lyrics part.
Everytime Dileo makes a play, of any consequence, Special K should play the chorus of 9mm (<-link) by David Banner. Such sayeth the Al Borges, ahem:'I got a nine millimeter / Ready to go off any minute so you feel it / Because of the law, I had to conceal it / If you [mess] around you gone make me reveal it'
Of course, the better idea is for MMB to make an arrangement of the hook of the song (<-link) which is literally made to be blasted by Bones and Tubas. I can see it now: picks, sticks, saxes, and flags wile out with rank moves. Drumline kicks the beat and horns wail on it....sigh, sadly it will never ever ever ever happen. Because, well, I dont know.
Well, I might but ruffles will get featherd.
Good god, you are right. That hook would be perfect for a drum and bugle corp. Just layer all of the horns together. You could pull off an impressive wall of sound,
right here. Hand this man 1,000 puntas and send him on his way.
so why not commission CBN to put something together? Create and slowly refine a list of inobvious classic standbys to one-up the typical NFL and college stupid, keep these in heavy rotation and allow M's great crowds to start developing their own hot and/or silly traditions around them; then come up with one or two great new pieces every week. This is the kind of thing we should be KILLING.
I'd like a team to play nothing but deathcore or black metal to really mess with the opponents' heads.
What is the name of the song the band plays before the start of the fourth quarter?
I Can't Turn You Loose - Blues Brothers
But I believe I heard ac\dc thunderstruck during intros for the Akron game. That song always fired me up and I put it on my senior year bball warmup tape. I got excited when I heard it before the game. It was only game I went to this year so I don't know if it's a one time thing.
They play Started from the Bottom - Drake during warm ups
I'm a little tired of AC/DC, especially Hell's Bells and Thunderstruck being played at every sporting event. Maybe that's just because the White Sox use AC/DC all the frigging time and I've gotten tired of it from going to those games, but I'm tired of it.
I'd like to hear them play "How You Like Me Now" by The Heavy whenever we make a badass play, it'd be a nice taunt to the other teams, like after an interception or a huge sack. Plus, the MMB can play it, it's got a bit of horns in it.
Bring back Band Day.
All I know is that the halftime show last week included the worst of the worst. They started with Seger (ok), went to Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond and I said "so help me god if they play Journey..." Sure enough, there it was.
