Michigan Stadium shout out
Michigan stadium gets a shout out for being so large and also an example of a technical problem of wireless bandwidth (try watching a youtube video during a tv timeout and you'll see)

Terrelle Pryor, is that you?
Is that you gramps?
"special shout outs". But I like the thought, regardless.

I woulnd't go to the stadium to watch youtube's videos.....
you cant even text during certain times of the game. when a game is over ill get like fifty texts all at once
I used to get texts when I'd get home from family watching the game on TV talking about 1st quarter plays. Really brutal when I'd try to get ahold of friends in other sections during halftime or after the game....
i couldnt even load a mobile photo to my various social networks.
and checking Twitter for updates on an injury. IS DENARD OKAY? I don't like constantly checking my phone, but the amount of time it takes to load stuff...if you're so lucky...sucks.
I'm not familiar with this phenomenon and I'm not able to watch that video in the article, but is it due to so many devices in one concentrated area trying to draw a signal?
The video is a professors lecture discussing how too many people in a small area (the example he used was the 110,000 people in the Big House) can use up all the band width in a data network and cause calls to be dropped/internet on phones not to work.
A lot during the season last year, when Denard would get hurt, and my friends and I standing around me would frantically check facebook/twitter, but to no avail. Damn Shannon's law...
AT&T is by far the worse carrier inside the Big House IMO. I can't even send/receive texts when I'm on Hoover, let alone inside the stadium. My friends with Verizon can usually text during the games.
I'm your friend and I have Verizon and I don't get service. Am I the exception that proves the rule? I think other people have trouble with their service as well. It's not specific to a single service.
Last year I was forwarded a verizon corp email talking specifically about coverage at sporting events. The email said the use COWs and COLTs (cellular on wheels and cellular on light trucks) to increase bandwidth. If I remember correctly the email mentioned the big house... I think that is why the person forwarded it to me.
we just waited to get home to talk to our friends and family about the game. Or back at the tailgate if they were at the game.
We managed just fine.
There's a statue of him outside the eecs building. The professor in the video is talking about Shannon's law. He wrote a paper describing it while at Bell labs.
I think our Brian is probably one of the EECS nerds commenting on that article. I read the first few, then the rest flew over my head.
