Michigan football season ticket holders have a potential souvenir. The ticket is 7 inches by 3 1/4 inches, larger than the normal 5 1/2 x 2 1/4 tickets for the rest of the home games.
Why couldn't they have squeezed in a few more bleachers and put the official capacity at an even 110,000?

It must end in a one. That's Fritz Crisler's seat.
RUSRS?
I thought this was common knowledge, but maybe not. Yeah it's for Fritz. (rhymed it!)

Ok, yes I know about Fritz's seat, that wasn't the damn point...I was wondering about why they didn't want to hit the 110,000 plateau in the first place.
"All I've had today is, like, six gummy bears and some scotch"
"why they didn't want to"
I think you're making an invalid assumption here.
Then, why didn't they? It was only an extra 100 seats, they could have squeezed them in somewhere. Unless no one thought of it. Or I'm the only person in the world that notices/cares.
"All I've had today is, like, six gummy bears and some scotch"
Well, keep in mind that this is just a temporary capacity number. It will go down after this year. It may not have made sense to cram in 100 extra seats if it didn't work in the long-term plans.
Wait, it's going down? What for?
"All I've had today is, like, six gummy bears and some scotch"
...widening in the bowl.

How does everyone feel about the new logo for the Big House? Part of me thinks it's cool, but I also sort of hate the modern branding of the Ole Girl.

I'd like it better if it used the iconic press box lettering, as the logo for the 500th game did in 2008.
It seems to fit in the same genre as the Big Chill logo:

All of Michigan's recent design work has been done by Old Hat Creative, out of Oklahoma. Here's some examples of their work, from their site:

Your attendance guess is right in line with what I figure for the UConn game. The 112,118 mark is based upon a listed capacity of 107,501, a difference of 4,617. The new buildings require a multitude of additional stadium personnel.
Looking ahead, I believe the eventual all-time record crowd will be at the MSU game and will be 115,091.

It appears that they definately designed the ticket with the intent that it be a souvenir. Of course my wfie wanted to know how that enormous ticket was supposed to fit in a pocket and remain unmolested if we were meant to keep them for posterity.
"...what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
"Fix the cigarette lighter."
I'm starting a blog on ticket stubs and ticket stub designs. Michigan/Detroit teams will be given some preference obviously, but just about every NFL and every major CFB team will be included for now. I'll post up a link when it's ready, but it shall be quite awesome considering how amazing Michigan Football's tickets have been over the years.
But the designer should have corrected the angular distortion in the photo first. Sheesh.
