Michigan Stadium to host High School prom

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

high schools were charged the same rates as other parties that would book events at the stadium. The locker room walk-through costs $100, and entering the stadium through the tunnel and spending time on the field costs $300. The rental fee for the Jack Roth Stadium Club is $9,000, and includes tables, chairs, security and parking.

If my HS was doing this, I'd actually go to my senior prom. A VERY small consolation is my graduation next month being at The Palace.

I never ruled out the after parties. I went to the homecoming after party and got pasted for the first time. Went to the party, AFTER the Michigan-indiana game ended of course.

Not sure if the headache the next morning was from the Labatt or the defensive performance against Indiana.

Aww... are you one of those "too cool for the prom guys"?  I say just go and enjoy it.  Live in the moment.  Just ask out the ugliest girl you know and have a blast.  Don't worry about what anyone says or thinks and live your life.  It's already 1/3 to 1/4 over.

And his date better know the second string long snapper the year WD was born as well as who the record.holder of the men's tennis singles tournament championships was at the time of his 1st tooth falling out. And she better not forget which hockey player traded his game jersey for the bottle of Coke WD was drinking near the team locker room.

WD, I have the utmost respect for your fandom, but dear god man, put down the underwater basket weaving team newsletter, and go get yourself some fun!

Dude, it's 2014, have you heard of Kickstarter?  There are ppl on this blog just dying to drop a few bux so that you can have a fun time.

Heck, if Vincent Smith can run a Kickstarter for digging up a garden (or to bury his helmet), then you can start up one to go to prom!

Don't listen to them. I didn't go to any proms, and I've never regretted it once. I had plenty of friends who went and plenty who didn't, and to be honest, the ones that did really don't think too much of it now (5 years later).

I think it may be that proms are just not as big of a deal as they were for the older generations.

On the other hand, if you think you can get laid then go for it!

The palace sounds great!  I graduated at the Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. This facility houses the state's finest livestock during the annual fair. It perpetually smells like shit.

and I thought "Holy Crap, season ticket sales must be so bad that DB is looking for other revenue streams..."

I read about this, sounds awesome. If the school can fundraise, why not?? My prom was at the Roostertail. Pretty sure even the State fans/future students would have preferred the Big House.

my prom wasn't at the Union. When my sister went to pioneer 8 years before I did, that's where they held it. Mine was at EMU, which was fine but not the same

At the Whore, er I mean, Big House, DB?

-A bar mitzvah?

-A dog show?

-Horse racing?

-Fashion show?

-CARNIVAL??

I remember when this was OUR stadium and like sacred ground. Those days are apparently gone.

And who cares. I have a feeling just about everyone in major CFB is using their stadium in creative ways to generate fuds for the program.

You know we have like 6-8 home games a year right?

I guess I missed the page in the Domino's handbook where it says that in order to "build a brand" it is a good idea to treat one of the greatest venues in sports like a VFW hall.  That must be why the Red Sox make all that sweet cheddar from bingo night at Fenway Park.

Good thing we're rounding up all these extra pennies now so that we can pay top dollar for coordinators whose former employers don't want them any more and so girls can play lacrosse.  And be sure to still raise prices on everything else, because this is a zero sum game where every ounce of short term revenue must be extracted from the public's pockets or we won't be able to beat Iowa at football ever again.

It's a pretty swanky VFW hall. I regularly run the east steps, which gets me a first-hand view of all the 1%ers and other swells who pull up to the Jack Ross entrance in their Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, Cadillac, and Lincoln SUVS, Expeditions, blinged-up Hummers, Porsches, Vettes, etc etc as they disgorge their pampered sons and daughters and wives. It's quite the spectacle.
