Michigan Stadium Aerial Video

Submitted by StephenRKass on

Michigan fliers has posted a nice new video with an aerial view of the practice fields, stadium, and scoreboards. You can find this at http://www.michiganstadiumaerials.com/. It gives a great spatial understanding of the three outdoor practice fields next to the fieldhouse. It turns out that the video was shot during practice, as you can see both natural turf fields in full use (although you'd be hard pressed to identify anything like Hoke pointing, etc.)

The aerial view also gives a good perspective on the new scoreboards. You can see video at the far distance of the plane, making it obvious that you'll be able to see those screens easily anywhere in the stadium.

I am neither an architect nor a designer, but the new scoreboards seem to be sized "just right" in proportion to the stadium. I'm not sure they would look right if they were twice their current size. Regardless, they seem more than large enough.

Near the beginning, you can also see the new basketball PDC next to Crisler, which is looking more and more finished.

Now, if one of you who does this regularly can point me to a tutorial on embedding video, I would be much obliged.

How exactly am I expected to sit at this computer the rest of the day and not RUN THROUGH A FUCKING WALL after hearing The Victors?? (second question mark added to demonstrate the extreme nature of my inquisition)

9 days until addiction fed; 16 days until I take in my first live game in several years.

I love how Crisler Arena can easily fit inside the Big House.

I don't think they is anything more beautiful than La Casa Grande....well, football-related of course.

In almost everything I am an unabashed Notre Dame homer, but I have to say, U of M did stadium renovation about a million times better than ND did.  That is a thing of beauty.  Kudos.  If you can get Dave Brandon to keep his word that advertising won't find its way onto the jumbotron, you'll be ll set.

Has ingress and egress been imporoved?  I attended several Michigan games prior to renovation and always hated getting in and out of the place.  It seemed that it could take the entirety of the time between quarters to get out of one's seat, to the john, and back.  Did the renovations help at all with respect to getting in and out?

I really hope Brandon doesn't get his wish to expand the capacity to 120,000 especially if they only add seats to the south end.  Not only from the perspective that the stadium will look bad if it's asymmetrical, but getting in and out of there will be ridiculous.
