Michigan Spring Game will now be on April 4th at Noon

Read as: BTN pulls rug out from underneath the Lacrosse team.

Was originally set for April 11th with Battle at The Big House IV against Ohio State to take place afterwards. Now there will be no Lax, and the team loses out on exposure they'd get what with having the leftover fans from the Spring Game.

A shame. This year's team is gonna be VERY interesting. Last year was good for being a 3rd year team.

Not only does Lax get the screwjob from BTN, but us in attendance at the spring game will freeze our asses off. Last year was extremely cold and they're playing it the same weekend as last year.

Lacrosse game is the next day at The Big House against Rutgers.

Spring game was gonna be April 11th.

Michigan and OSU had a nice tradition of playing eachother after the Football spring game which always got a good crowd. Michigan's largest crowd in their program history thus far was 2012 with almost 5,000 people.

So much for that. Even if they move the game with Rutgers the day after the spring game back a day, not as many people will stay and I doubt it'd be televised.

Now I'm gonna have to stay overnight at a friends the night of the spring game.

Makes no sense to come to A2, leave and then come back the next day for the Lacrosse game.

Season ticket holder and I don't plan on missing a game.

Today on MGoBlog, we discuss a guy walking 21 miles to work, and the injustice that WD has to crash on a couch because he doesn't want to drive to A2 again to watch a college lacrosse game.

This is the world we live in.

even if I have to freeze my ass off.  The last time I was at a spring game I was in grade school and Bo was still the coach.  They played a real game.

And thus began my love of all things Michigan.

I went to every spring game from 1998 - 2009 and only twice did the weather not suck. It's almost always cloudy, dark, cold, drizzling.

I kept going but eventually got bored because the scrimmages were snoozers. But I'm obviously going this year because....you know, Harbaugh.

I remember that too - I think the daytime high in 2002 or 2003 was close to 80 degrees, but April being April, the next week it was pretty brutal an crisp with high not much above 45 or so. The historic averages for the start of April are highs in the low 50s, I believe, and if we really are in a cooler period as they claim, we could still be up for a nice late season ice storm. Who knows.

I'll take the 80 degree day again personally.

There hasn't been an actual game since 4/14/2001 when John Navarre led the White team to a 21-7 victory over the Blue.

Here is every spring game result since 1990. Notice the lack of results for most of them. You have no idea how long it took to assemble the complete history of spring games. Countless hours of searching news archives and old papers.

  • 4/21/1990: White 31-6
  • 1991: Cancelled due to field conditions
  • 4/11/1992: White 14-12
  • 4/10/1993: White 21-20
  • 4/9/1994: White 10-6
  • 4/8/1995: White 45-44
  • 1996: Cancelled due to field conditions
  • 4/12/1997: White 22-20
  • 4/18/1998: White 20-17
  • 4/19/1999: No score kept
  • 4/15/2000: White 23-22
  • 4/14/2001: White 21-7
  • 4/13/2002: No score kept

Lacrosse update:

According to the schedule on OSU's website, Michigan will apparently play them the day AFTER they were originally scheduled to play, after the spring game. Michigan vs OSU will be Sunday, 4/12 at 2pm at Michigan Stadium.

So, unless Michigan pushes the Rutgers game back a day, no Battle at The Big House this year.
