I remember in T ball we used to call it a mercy rule win.  Then as I got into HS ball it was called the run rule but we all called it a mercy rule including coaches and umpires.  That was 20 years ago.

I have been coaching softball for 15 years.  We call it the 10-run rule.  We are not even allowed to utter the words mercy.  I get it for the younger girls.  But in college these girls are not stupid.  The know what is score is at all times.  They even know if they suck or not.

So what are we trying to do?  Not say the word "mercy"?  That is exactly what it is.  The winning team is having mercy on the losing team.  What is next?  We cant say the words :lost" or losing team"?  Are we going to have to say "the team with the fewest runs"

I am so tired of the PC crap.  Lets get back to basics and call a spade a spade.
