Michigan Softball wins 7th straight B1G Championship POS-BANG

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

After another Friday night disaster, Michigan pulled it together and rebounded big time tonight.

Megan Betsa saved the day again. 10 Ks for the freshman who has stepped up and cleaned up for Michigan after their strange slump of losing game one of a B1G series.

It's senior weekend and Taylor Hasselbach hit the walkoff 2-run shot for the 10-1 run-rule victory over Wisconsin. This ends Michigan's weird streak of losing to the badgers by scores of 9-3 going back to last year.

Michigan's streak of B1G Championships continues. Seven straight.

Tomorrow they go for the outright championship at 1pm on senior day.

involving Kate and dancing appropriate for this Posbang thread?

Not sure it is, but...

hmmmm, Kate did say something recently about greater appreciation of cheeks (or something along those lines...)

so, how about this:

Perspective: I was in 6th grade when Michigan began their B1G Championship streak in 2008.

I'll be graduating HS in a month. B1G Championship every year from 2008-2014 is incredible. Especially in a sport like Softball. There's a reason no other team had won more than two straight prior to 2008.

to the women of Michigan Softball and their great leader, Coach Hutchins.  Whatever her formula for success is, I hope that she shares it with some of her fellow Michigan Head Coaches.

These gals should really be proud of what they have collectively accomplished, not just this team, but all the teams that have together played a part in this run of Championships.  Wow!

And Coach Hutchins?  I look forward to seeing her and the team introduced with their trophies this fall at The Big House.  I will be singing The Victors as loudly as ever in salute to her and her team!

I get that Upton is an MGoBlog favorite so I'll probably get negged for this, but could we take a little break from objectifying women's bodies to focus on the athletic accomplishment of some great Michigan women?  Seems like the wires are a little crossed-up here.

And so it shall be that much jubilation will be shared by all, for verily the forces of truth, justice, and the American Way have once again triumphed over the nefarious denizens of the B1G.  Let us revel in this conquest, and savor the sweet sweet taste of victory.

The white guy in khakis is the best part of this gif.  For some reason it reminds me of the guys that continue to sing You Lost That Loving Feeling after Mav and Goose get Charlie to let Mav sit down.  It just never made sense to me.  Who are they singing to?

Such a great feeling, they made it interesting but these ladies deserve it. Such a great group of girls, it's been a fantastic experience getting to spend a season with them and hopefully it's not even close to over.

I appears that some troll decided to do his dirty work overnight, one post at a time.

Let them have their warped version of "fun",  while we celebrate a Michigan Championship. Go Blue!!

Yep, and conveniently didn't neg the original post to hide his identity. What a coward and a DB. Come on coward, at least have the decency to come out from the shadows and say why you negged every post in a thread celebrating a Michigan B10 championship.

My own theory has always been that a small but apparently vocal minority adhere to a very narrow interpretation of what the range of coverage of Michigan athletics should be on MGoBlog. A few have expressed this outright before, and it is an attitude that I've never understood and find a bit of a shame as there are so many great things going on in the whole body of varisty sports, such as what we're celebrating here.

Congratulations to Michigan Softball on another Big Ten Championship - this has been an absolutely fantastic run for them and they deserve every bit of praise they get.

Congratulations ladies once again! Very deserving, but I have to disagree that Betsa saved the day again.  The starting pitchers did their job in all of the opening games of the last 2 weeks. Wagner and Driesenga kept the team in the game against the first Minnesota, Purdue, Ilinois and even the Wisconsin loss on Friday.  We could have won all of those games easily, but when the team doesn't show up to hit, you are not going to win.  All of the pitchers are fantastic.  Lets just hope the team comes to hit next weekend, because one game loss and you are out.  Keep working hard ladies!
