Michigan Softball Lauren and Haylie win B1G Awards

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

Michigan Softball had two players that were honored by the B1G.  Freshman Catcher Lauren Sweet was named Freshman of the Week and Freshman Haylie Wqgner was named Co-Pitcher of the week.  Michigan was 4-0 over the past week.

Congrats to the Freshmen.  Keep up the good work.

Initial RPI is out and M is 22. Haylie Wagner checks in at 33 in ERA (1.28), second in the Big Ten behind Minnesota's top pitcher, who is number six nationally with a .71ERA.

Edit: For anyone interested in catching the M/BGSU game tomorrow, megangoblue should have a preview tonight. I think it's going to be pretty similar to before, but I might do some grunt work for her so she knows a little more about M's ins and outs. It also might be a diary on my suggestion, I have a feeling the diary board might be a better option, so we'll see if she has 200 words that agree.

I agree that's not the best way to identify athletes. I use last names unless it's a name you never hear, e.g. Charles Woodson or Woodson, but Denard is fine.

That said, there are plenty of other topics that casually use names that aren't creepy.

classify it as creepy it is kind of.....annoying - at least in the title. Once the player's full name has been established it's not quite as noticeable if first names only are used in the article.

Sundays game vs. Penn State a 6-0 victory is currently airing on BTN. One of Wagner's three victories this past weekend. It's one of the StudentU games so its not great, but still a better production than a lot of the other Big Ten schools
