Michigan Robot - Recruiting Violations?

Submitted by JD_UofM_90 on

Well, I hate to report this, but there are some rumors floating around on the message boards that the "Michigan Robot", may have some issues surrounding his recruitment.  It is behind a pay wall (BotBall Insider.com), so I cannot see the entire thread, but apparently, Michigan Robot may have been influenced by an "escort", during some of his recruiting visits to Ann Arbor.

It looks like a couple of Michigan Robotics Graduate students are to blame for this controversy.  They created and set up this "escort" with the "Michigan Robot," without any knowledge of the situation by the Michigan coaching staff.   They students stated: "We were bored and lonely, and we couldn't get any real girls to talk to us, so we made one ourselves."   "And when we heard UofM had a chance to land "Michigan Robot" as a recruit, so we just thought maybe this could be the best way, we could help out the team."

Right now, the coaching staff has is not commenting on the situation, until they can gather more information.  Below is a picture of the alleged escort this article is referencing.

Yeah sure he's got the made of metal thing going, but from everything I've seen the guy completely lacks any kind of personality.  Whenever he talks to the media it's like listening to freaking Stephen Hawking.  Can we honestly expect this guy to fit the mold of a Michigan Man?

His uncle was a hell of a showboater too, just sayin.

So I did some digging, and this is all blown way out of proportion. I called a close friend in the athletic department and they had this to say about the situation:

We are well aware of the accusations surrounding the alleged "recruiting violations" with Michigan Robot. I can assure you that the graduate students at the center of this hullabaloo were NOT acting in the interests of the Michigan Athletic Department, and they have since been spoken to and their World of Warcraft accounts have been deactivated. We are complying fully with the NCAA to make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Now if you'll excuse me, we have a bowl game to look forward to. Go Blue.

So, as you can see, this is a whole lot of smoke, but no fire. From what I can tell, MI Robot is just enjoying his senior year and is still planning on attending Michigan.

Apparently the Detroit Free Press has picked up this story and is running with it.  They've been interviewing various vending machines and small appliances on campus, trying to dig up some dirt.
