than I expected given the talk after Saturday.

Sounds about right. Only ranked team with a loss.
September 4th, 2012 at 12:19 PM ^
We're the highest ranked winless team. WooHoo!!!
Suck it, Florida.
September 4th, 2012 at 12:22 PM ^
as someone who has to deal with the fairweather Florida fans here in Sarasota...SUCK IT, FLORIDA!

We were overrated to make it a top 10 matchup, but I figured we'd drop to 17 after getting crushed. I don't think there should be polls until week 6 anyway, but I think 19 sounds about right for now.
September 4th, 2012 at 11:58 AM ^
That seems OK. Beating Notre Dame in a few weeks will help, and I expect us to be ranked in the top 15 by the end of the season.
September 4th, 2012 at 12:01 PM ^
Funny I was just thinking the opposite.. You'll be out of the 25 by the time BIG schedule rolls around.
September 4th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Well aren't you just the best.
Edit: Phork has been caved. Woo.

Repeated complaints don't help. Sometimes we just disagree with peoples' opinions on whether certain users should be nuked. Phork was a pain in the ass, but if a guy doesn't break any of the cardinal rules, it takes more than just a general pain-in-the-ass-ness to get banned.
With that said, Phork is no longer among us. Praise be to monorail cat.

I almost felt bad for "Denardsthirdheisman" this weekend. He/she was trying so hard to troll the board and everyone was so depressed that they just ignored it.

Huh?
And no, I was never on the freep.com. I don't read that trash.
I come here for the thoughtful analysis and in depth jokerism.

HAIL!

Edit: Finally that troll is gone

Okay he's gone

But that can be said of almost everyone that plays Alabama. All the reasons we were a preseason top 10 team don't suddenly get thrown out the window because of one game.

-- Dantonio, responding to a question about his players bashing Michigan on Twitter on Saturday night, said they need to "keep their mouth shut. ... especially the players who aren't playing." He called it "disrespectful" to Michigan's program.

Agreed with Dantonio. If our players were doing that, I would hope Hoke would say the same.

I'm actually surprised / impressed he responded that way

Probably not worth a thread so I will put it here. The guy's on ESPN's Big Ten blog put us 3rd in their conference power rankings for this week. Usual ESPN caveats aside, that is somewhat encouraging all things considered.
September 4th, 2012 at 12:01 PM ^
If anything, MSU is overrated by 3-5 slots.

I still think we end up in the top ten, and I'm the guy who predicted Alabama 45-7 :(
I'm very excited about the season and the program going forward. One loss is not that big a deal especially in early Sept. Hell, remember the nineties when Michigan was always the highest ranked team with one loss?
September 4th, 2012 at 12:43 PM ^
No first place votes this week? Rats..
September 4th, 2012 at 6:26 PM ^
September 4th, 2012 at 12:45 PM ^
... I take solace in the fact that we scored more points in our one game against Alabama than LSU did in both their games combined.

i would have read that earlier today, might have helped with the co-workers.

It makes for a more satisfying season when Michigan climbs the polls anyway. We all know #8 was too high and it showed. Being ranked high for week 1 is often a curse for Michigan (2002 win vs. Washington the lone exception I can think of). Can't wait to see them leap back into the top 12 to 15 after the Notre Dame game.
Speaking of ND, anyone else shocked they didn't somehow make it into the top 15 after winning one game? Those AP voters are losing their marbles! Or maybe it's the coaches' poll...

September 4th, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
Looks right. They are not a top-5 program right now, but definitely a top-20 squad based on what we saw this weekend.
September 4th, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
This incarnation of Michigan might yet prove to be a top ten team, but 19th is a great place for them right now. It will make them the underdog against a few important teams, and keep them from getting complacent. If Hoke wants to pull the "no respect" card before a crucial game, he will be able to.
There's nothing like the proverbial "chip on the shoulder" to help a team along.
September 4th, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
This is right around where we should be. We were not a top-10 team to start this year. I think the team is good enough to crack the top 15 at the end of the year, maybe the top 10 again. But its got its work cut out for it.
