We were overrated to make it a top 10 matchup, but I figured we'd drop to 17 after getting crushed. I don't think there should be polls until week 6 anyway, but I think 19 sounds about right for now.

Repeated complaints don't help. Sometimes we just disagree with peoples' opinions on whether certain users should be nuked. Phork was a pain in the ass, but if a guy doesn't break any of the cardinal rules, it takes more than just a general pain-in-the-ass-ness to get banned.

With that said, Phork is no longer among us. Praise be to monorail cat.

Probably not worth a thread so I will put it here. The guy's on ESPN's Big Ten blog put us 3rd in their conference power rankings for this week. Usual ESPN caveats aside, that is somewhat encouraging all things considered.

They don't mean anything to me right now. Too many teams still have question marks. I will say this, I think ND gets us this year, unfortunately.

Did you see Navy passing on ND? 14/19 192 yards. For once since the 60's MSU plays ND first and UM gets the benifit of ND being tenderized by someone else.

I still think we end up in the top ten, and I'm the guy who predicted Alabama 45-7  :(

I'm very excited about the season and the program going forward. One loss is not that big a deal especially in early Sept. Hell, remember the nineties when Michigan was always the highest ranked team with one loss?

It makes for a more satisfying season when Michigan climbs the polls anyway. We all know #8 was too high and it showed. Being ranked high for week 1 is often a curse for Michigan (2002 win vs. Washington the lone exception I can think of). Can't wait to see them leap back into the top 12 to 15 after the Notre Dame game.

Speaking of ND, anyone else shocked they didn't somehow make it into the top 15 after winning one game? Those AP voters are losing their marbles! Or maybe it's the coaches' poll...

This incarnation of Michigan might yet prove to be a top ten team, but 19th is a great place for them right now.  It will make them the underdog against a few important teams, and keep them from getting complacent.  If Hoke wants to pull the "no respect" card before a crucial game, he will be able to.

There's nothing like the proverbial "chip on the shoulder" to help a team along.

This is right around where we should be. We were not a top-10 team to start this year. I think the team is good enough to crack the top 15 at the end of the year, maybe the top 10 again. But its got its work cut out for it.
