Michigan QB Recruit Victor Viramontes to play quarterback and LB this fall

Submitted by markusr2007 on

Brief article here in the LA Times on class of 2016 Michigan QB recruit Victor Viramontes.

Norco is located near Riverside, CA (a.k.a. Inland Empire). Viramontes first game is tonight vs. Etiwada.   He'll be playing QB and apparently LB as well.

Norco roster here. Viramontes wear's No. 10.  Check out the positions he plays.  Sheesh!

Not a complete shock, since this kid is now 6-2, 230 lbs!!:

Norco is looking forward to giving the Huskies some competition, and the Cougars have one of the best quarterbacks on the West Coast in Victor Viramontes.

"Victor is the ultimate leader. When it comes to competition, he leads by example," Coach Chuck Chastain said.

Bound for Michigan, Viramontes is a passer and runner. He's also going to play some defense this season.

Norco was impressive in summer seven on seven passing competitions with its skill-position players.

He said he's willing to play anywhere and we have a coach that likes to move players around. Plus, we're always going to have depth at QB, so he'll have that luxury. If he's good enough, he's going to see the field. He could potentially play a lot of roles on offense besides QB and LB. Should be fun to watch wherever he ends up.

Oh wow. Dude is a beast! I thought he may be small to play quarterback in Harbaugh's system at 6'0 previously, but now he could be a legit threat over Peters. Ahh so many quarterback options! Can't wait to see Vicious Vic in the Maize and Blue!

when Norco comes over to play Orange County football powerhouse, Mission Viejo H.S.

I'm excited to see him play against superior H.S. competition.

A lot of Mission Viejo, Mater Dei and Poly kids end up at USC.

I know Tebow is not well liked around here, but I wouldn't mind seeing a "Tank" package on the goal line or short yardage situations.  With that versatility, he could see the playing field as a true freshman.

I like Tebow and think he got a TON of undeserved crap for various reasons I won't get into.

Anyway, I think he could work really well as a Tebow-type player - good change of pace guy who could, to your point, run a "tank" package in short-yardage situations. Excited about this guy.

And just a reminder to some. Although he was obviously much bigger, John Navarre was also recruited as a Defensive End.

Here's an interesting thought that probably means absolutely nothing...

Viramontes (6'2", 230) is listed at about the same size that Toby Gerhardt was  (6'1", 228) coming out of High School (the SAME high school as Viramontes, I might add...Norco HS in Norco, CA). And both have a tendency to wreck shit when they run.

I need to figure out how far west and/or south Norco gets, to see if I can justify driving to a random high school game.   I feel like a broken record saying this, but everything I hear and see about Vic makes me more excited to see him in the maize and blue.

Be at that game tonight watching Vic play. Just so everyone knows, this kid is a fricken monster and he plays against very good competition. I can see him playing QB but he runs a lot so I personally see him as the big LB we need moving forward!!!! But we will see. He's more of a running QB who throws IMO. Love this kid. I love 20 minutes forum where he plays

When Victor is Taysom Hilling our team to a national championship with a TD pass to TE Zach Gentry in the NC game, minds will be blown.

Vic is an exceptional athlete and football player. He has an uncanny ability to stay on his feet while absorbing hits. Can't wait to see what Harbaugh does with this young man. And in 4 or 5 years I have no doubt Vic will be in a position to succeed at the highest level.
