Michigan - Purdue Open Thread

They better come out roaring in the second half. Can't let Purdue stay in this. They are a pretty awful team that is just playing over their heads tonight.

Better play better perimeter defense and someone man up and rebound the damn ball. Too many long scoring droughts for this team. Stauskas look lost out there

Is confident Purdue won't start the half 7-11 from 3 point land?

Meh, we've played like garbage while they are busy shooting the lights out from 3. I'm not really worrying at all going into the second half.

Burke sat the last two mins of the half because Beilein is not happy with him. Hope he can rally the troops and get everyone focused in the second half.

I feel pretty confident if the second half is Purdue chucking up threes.  They should cool off eventually.

Here's what it looks like at halftime - 

Purdue FG% - 43.3% (13-30)

Michigan FG% - 44.8% (13-29)

Purdue 3PT% - 53.3% (7-13)

Michigan 3PT% - 30% (3-10)

Purdue has made no FTs, but we're 3-4 in that department.

Otherwise, we've actually outrebounded them overall (both  offensive and defensive) and committed a third as many fouls. 

Purdue is so hot. But we've scrapped to keep it this close. I'm pretty confident about the second half.

This is what frustrates me about basketball.  You can play fine D (not that we neccsarily are at the moment) and a team can jack up 3's with a guy who normally shoots 12% on the year and, bam, today he's making them.  Or you can set up a great play, get a great look, and bam, you get nothing.  Hell, maybe the ball bounces half way across the court giving the other team an easy basket.  It's like running a perfectly executed run play in football, having your RB run into the open field, except he falls down and fumbles the ball 40% of the time.

Purdue did this against MSU too. They hung with them for about 30 minutes of the game and then MSU blew them out. I expect the same to happen here. Purdue will eventually run out of gas.

Don't understand why everyone is freaking out, Purdue just played completely above their potential and we are only down by one at the half. We got this.

Frustrating first half to watch, but the second half is all that matters, especially in basketball

Why does it seem like teams get insanely hot from three when they play Michigan?

We'll be fine in this one gents and ladies.  Byrd will come back to planet earth where he's a mere mediocre mortal and our turnovers will decrease (I bet we have 5 tops in the 2nd half).

Though my prediction of another 90+ point game isn't likely.

only difference is Purdue is getting easier looks and shooting 23% better than us from 3.  We will go on a 12-3 run to open the second half.

I'm gonna trust that Beilein and his crew will make the correct adjustments to guard the 3 and such. I don't think Purdue will make many more.
