Michigan-PSU rivalry?
Been wanting to ask this question all week but never got around to it?
Does anyone consider this game a rivalry? Now that it will be contested yearly?
Had the feeling tonight of a rivalry. A lot of down to the wire and close games between these two.

NO. It is obvious we dont take them seriously.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:03 PM ^
We seem to only take ND seriously.

You didn't read the "stop making new threads" thread. Your going to get in trouble lol

Judging by your poor grammar, you are already beyond help

You shut the fuck up?! You have nothing better to do than this? Pathetic.

Yet, you keep replying. Sheep.

As an English major with a creative writing emphasis, I fully support the use of conjunctions to start sentences. If surrounded by well written text and timed properly, in moderation, grammar faux pas can be quite powerful and effective.

I have a serious English question for you. Is "I'll" one or two words? My wife and I had a disagreement when we heard the Bon Jovi song "Ill Be There for You". In the lyrics he says "These five words I swear to you...." I say it is six words I'll = I will = 2 words = 6 total words.
What say you?
October 12th, 2013 at 10:25 PM ^
But a conjunction is likely one word. When in doubt, type it in Word and do a word count.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:25 PM ^
It's a conjunction. A one word conjunction. Bon Jovi is correct.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:59 PM ^
Contraction, not conjunction, and to be honest, I'm not sure if it (or any other contraction) is officially considered one word or two. My personal opinion is that it is one word whose definition is just the two words it is a combination of.
October 12th, 2013 at 11:33 PM ^
Sounds like a math question to me.
October 13th, 2013 at 11:42 AM ^
Words are basically sound-meaning pairs. Unless you for some reason pronounce "I'll" exactly like "I will" I don't think you have a leg to stand on here.

Who cares. This team is a tire fire
October 12th, 2013 at 10:06 PM ^
No. Rivalries have history behind them. A few competitive games does not make it a rivalry.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:08 PM ^
But what about the start of a rivalry? All rivalries at some point had a beginning in which there was little or no history between them, maybe we should revisit the question in a few years.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:28 PM ^
History as in actually animosity between the schools.
Michigan and Ohio have hated each other since the border dispute
Michigan tryed their damndest to keep msu out of the big ten. That's why they hate us so much.
Michigan and Notre Dame have the canceling of games because of racism and other things.
Those are rivalries.

State wasn't up to academic par (and still might not be)... However, they are a good fit for the B1G given the location and the type of school they have become to be
October 13th, 2013 at 3:30 PM ^
State became what they are as a result of joining the Big Ten. Without admittance, they would be like Cincinnati, or maybe Iowa State or Pitt.
I still think it's unfair that Michigan is the only school in the Big Ten that has to deal with another large state school in the conference. Minnesota, Wisco, Iowa, Nebraska, and Ohio all absolutely dominate their state. It's a significant disadvantage to M.
October 13th, 2013 at 10:14 PM ^
Are you kidding? This is one of the dumbest posts I've seen around here in a while. It's wrong on the facts: Indiana and Purdue are both large state schools in the same conference and Michigan State also "has to deal with another large state school in the conference." So there are three other schools that share the same situation you're complaining about being unfair. And I'm pretty sure Nebraska and Minnesota would be happy to share the number of football recruits that Michigan produces instead of having almost all the small number of in-state div. 1 players to themselves. Even if you weren't wrong on the facts this is still a dumb post.
The two schools that have an advantage are Penn State and Ohio State. They are in talent rich states and don't have any true in-state competitors for recruits, but there's nothing unfair about it. That's just the way it is.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:08 PM ^
With them joining our division and playing them every year, I think it will become one. I can tell you that I certainly hate them currently...
October 12th, 2013 at 10:09 PM ^
No...
Ohio and ND are the only ones...
October 12th, 2013 at 10:52 PM ^
With ND Chickens. STAEE! Is our 2nd rival behind 'hio. Two is all we need, let everyone else wish we cared enough to say they are our rivals.

All the threads keep getting deleted and all of this wonderful insight is lost to history, hopefully the NSA has kept a record

You know they have.
I don't even backup my system anymore. I know the NSA keeps everything for me.

No. Just a real pain in the neck.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:13 PM ^
It's a game you want to win isn't it? Do you want to beat them? Yes. So it's a rivalry. It doesn't need time honored traditions.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:43 PM ^
I want to win every game. AKRON MICHIGAN RIVALS 4EVA
October 12th, 2013 at 10:15 PM ^
Ass since 2008 and they are sanctioned. They are not a rival unless they beat a decent M team. (Maybe in 2 more years)?
October 12th, 2013 at 10:19 PM ^
This was supposed to be a a rivalry ten years ago...

Lol. Awesome.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:42 PM ^
No.
We've had several close games, but no, I don't think it's gotten to the rivalry stage yet. We already have MSU , Ohio, and the chickens.
October 12th, 2013 at 11:00 PM ^
Agree that it's not yet a true rivalry, but what do the other three big rivalries have to do with it? There's not a cap on the number you can have.
