Good. Only thing worse than a noon kick is a 3:30 kick on BTN. Next best thing to a true night game... 3:30 ABC.
The time slot is an interesting one this week. Should put us up against the 3:30 Florida @ Tennessee on CBS and the 3:30 Duke @ Notre Dame on NBC.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:24 AM ^
So it's a pretty weak slot. FL-TN is moderately interesting, but it doesn't sound like much else is elbowing for space then.
Hoping that we look good. The offense needs to improve, but I think we have the personnel to play quite well defensively against PSU.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:42 AM ^
I watched PSU today and they were pretty mediocre. I think we will see Colorado was a much more difficult opponent.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:46 AM ^
And we were still without major contributors on D. Glad CU could punch us in the mouth a bit - we'll only be better for it.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:51 AM ^
That was my biggest fear with the easy non-con schedule. When you're not tested for four to five weeks, it's hard to play up to your first difficult opponent. Not developing any "calluses" as Harbaugh would say. Glad Colorado was better than originally expected. They needed this experience.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:52 AM ^
Especially if Barkley's injury lingers and he's limited. Their lines are not good.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:30 AM ^
but if your running game consists of a straightforward attack like PSU's is, you are not going to get anything. It's the edge runs & QB runs that give us trouble. PSU and Wisconsin will need to beat us in the air
September 18th, 2016 at 8:35 AM ^
+1 for us saying similar things almost simultaneously. You can add msu to that list, though they have some creative edge runs that I expect peppers to murder
September 18th, 2016 at 5:50 PM ^
MSU has been using a lot of jet and jet play action the last couple of years. I wouldn't expect them to just try to grind it out at the strongest part of our defense.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:57 AM ^
The first non spread o team we face ?
September 18th, 2016 at 9:25 AM ^
They switched to the spread in the offseason. The only non-spreads we'll see all year are Sparty, Iowa and Wiscy. I have no fing clue what shit Illinois will run.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:31 AM ^
your own question. Illinois will run shit.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:38 AM ^
Good point. I laughed when they cut into a game I was watching (can't remember which one) to say the score of their game and remark Western, to that point, had out-rushed them 143-1. I busted up laughing.
September 18th, 2016 at 12:22 PM ^
Illinois still doesn't even know what they are running. Shows the difference between two pretty successful NFL coaches, doesn't it?
September 18th, 2016 at 1:40 PM ^
are mere doormats. I'd like to see Smith lift that team, a little.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:33 AM ^
Additionally, this defensive personnel is ideal for stopping a boring traditional offense.
Ill be shocked if Penn state has any offensive success
September 18th, 2016 at 9:00 AM ^
looks in the mirror and wonders if our team is a traditional "boring offense considering our qb makes navarre look like dilithium...
September 18th, 2016 at 9:11 AM ^
No because our coach is HArbuagh, not James Franklin...
September 18th, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
What the hell? Have you not seen one snap of Penn State this year? They have a new offensive coordinator. He runs a no-huddle spread.
September 18th, 2016 at 10:14 AM ^
I think they beat Penn State handily. (btw, if you thought I was going to say "I think they beat us handily" ... no, but it could have been a bit more uncomfortable at the end.)
September 18th, 2016 at 6:03 PM ^
Ya'll are overstating on how good you think Colorado is. They're not a good team.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:07 AM ^
Whoa...shade on noon games AND wants night games?
DUCK!
September 18th, 2016 at 1:23 AM ^
First tailgate of the year for me!

does that mean the MSU/Wisconsin gets the noon slot?
thanks
September 18th, 2016 at 1:27 AM ^
According to ESPN (which I just checked, cause why not) it's the noon BTN game. That's... a surprise.
And a mistake.
September 18th, 2016 at 2:16 AM ^
BTN was not made for games with both teams carrying single digits next to their names.
September 18th, 2016 at 3:44 AM ^
Wisconsin will be 10
September 18th, 2016 at 1:25 AM ^
Gotta love that we got the 330 slot on abc while msu-wisky gets 12 on BTN. I'm assuming btn used one of their priority pics with this one?

Ah, forgot about those. That makes sense. Great for us, in any case.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:25 AM ^
PSU will be destroyed.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:28 AM ^
I think we'll hang 50 on them
September 18th, 2016 at 1:31 AM ^
Not as good of a weekend as this weekend. There's some interesting stuff earlier on; Clemson at Georgia Tech might actually be good if GT can move the ball Thursday Night. USC and Utah is a real game Friday night, though IMO A2 locals should feed their animalistic college football cravings by going to the EMU game at Rynearson.
Easy for me to say, it's your money to watch whatever that will be.
MSU-Wisconsin is clearly the best game between ranked teams. FL-TN and TAMU-ARK are also ranked matchups, but neither of those feature any teams ranked as high as either of the two B1G participants.
Maybe the BTN/ABC thing will switch? They're both listed as TBD. WH, have they ever changed those things before?
September 18th, 2016 at 7:53 AM ^
You know, several years ago, I was driving along Hewitt (happened to be a Michigan bye week) and discovered that there is indeed a tailgate atmosphere for EMU games. Granted, it was one guy loitering by the commuter bus stop and slamming a PBR, but it was sort of a tailgate....with one beer and in a bus shelter.
September 18th, 2016 at 8:19 AM ^
I thought this was happening, and you seem to have confirmed it. Why are people calling Wolverine Devotee WH?
September 18th, 2016 at 8:27 AM ^
I don't know if other people are doing it, but I just plain messed up.
September 18th, 2016 at 11:27 AM ^
I think I was remembering this post from last week that Wolverine Devotee himself put up with clips. Does "WH Style" refer to something other than the poster? I assumed he made the clips and was referring to himself as WH, but I don't know why that would make sense.
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/michigan-ucf-highlights-wh-style
September 18th, 2016 at 12:38 PM ^
No, Wolverine Historian is who is being refered to. He's a poster who has put up edited versions of a lot of old games.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:59 PM ^
Ah, thanks!
September 18th, 2016 at 1:32 AM ^
People are starting game threads earlier and earlier . T- minus 6 days 16 hours til kick
September 18th, 2016 at 6:20 AM ^
This isn't a game thread. The time was just announced so it is being shared. Many of us were waiting to know what time kickoff would be.

I was wondering why on earth would anyone neg a thread announcing a game time.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:34 AM ^
Missed Georgia/Ole Miss, though Ole Miss probably drops out this week. And Stanford at UCLA is intriguing.
September 18th, 2016 at 2:22 AM ^
Georgia/Ole Miss should be a decent game, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ole Miss were to win. Georgia has been surprisingly bad this year. Getting rid of Richt was a mistake, IMO.
September 18th, 2016 at 3:50 AM ^
You forgot the /s after 'firing Mark Richt was a mistake'.
September 18th, 2016 at 6:52 AM ^
Nope, he's right. Firing Richt to hire Kirby Smart was a boneheaded decision. Richt was a proven sort-of-winner, Smart has never been a head coach and could turn out to be Will Muschamp 2.0. If, Georgia had hired a good, established HC, then their decision would have been more understandable.
September 18th, 2016 at 9:33 AM ^
I don't blame Georgia for firing Richt, he was stuck in neutral and was going nowhere. Sure 10 wins/yr, but what big time wins and what championships? They were never going to get either with Richt.
Hiring a new coach is always a crapshoot - with the notable exception of the Unicorn, and few, select, others (Meyer, Saban, ?). UGA went with the hot name coordinator rather than some retread who was far from a sure thing. I think they made a good choice, but he'll need a couple of years to establish his own identity. That's when we'll see whether the Smart choice was smart, or not...
September 18th, 2016 at 1:37 AM ^
And I'm taking -42.5 Sandusky mentions on the MGoBlogs between now and gameday. Somebody wanna spot me a Sandusky with Bitcoin? /jk
September 18th, 2016 at 8:52 AM ^
42.5? I'll take the over.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:42 AM ^
Where is college gameday going? Knoxville?
September 18th, 2016 at 2:18 AM ^
You care about that?
