Michigan picked as a top 5 team on ESPNEWS

Kordell Stewart picked UM as the No. 5 team in his rankings on ESPNEWS right now. Yes, my jaw did drop. He also said he was trying to make friends with people in AA nowadays.

Agreed. Our Offense seems set to get even better next year but you have to be concerned for the D next year. No depth in secondary and LB and not a lot of bluechip recruits committed so far. Hopefully RR can rectify that before signing day.

I mean, not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but Kordell: our defense? Is Donovan Warren, Brandon Graham and Craig Roh. Not to be down on the team, I think we're in for a pretty good season and a fun ride this year, but give it another year, okay?

....Colorado was in his top 20..... We need a moratorium on this kind of crap, and just focus on bashing heads. Next year we can FUCK.SHIT.UP. This year I'm focusing on healing all of the liver damage from last year.

As much as I am a honk for the beloved maize and blue and RR, I think he might have taken a few too many hits to the head. If they get through PSU and are undefeated then we can start to talk about the subject.

I kept scouring the screen to find some qualification of "top 5", like, "top 5 teams w/ explosive QBs", "top 5 most improved teams"... and was shocked that it was jus the "Top 5" period. I think we're really good, but top 5 is a bit optimistic. Especially - as other posters have noted - in light of our defense which has been cringeworthy thus far. (Although to their credit, the past 2 weeks they've stepped things up in the 2nd half after a horrible start.)

and there were a lot of highlights in that game. This team generates big plays - they'll be a favorite of the sports shows all season if they can keep it up. But the suits in the studio don't see all those 7 yard Huron gains, just the Carlos Brown run and Denard jetting to the end zone.

Yeah, it's fun to watch this team, but we aren't there yet as others have said. The great thing about our start is that it alleviates some of the anti Rich Rod chatter. With continued growth, we'll win enough to get to a decent bowl game and then be in a position next year to make another leap forward. The key point is that by winning, RR will ensure he is around long enough to do his thing. Really like the direction the team is going.

Dr. Saturday had us at number 4 on his Blogpoll ballot this past week, I believe. His rankings are very much a "what have you done for me lately?" kind of deal though, so knocking off a good ND team is what propelled us up so far. But considering how teams are dropping games like it's 2007, I wouldn't be stunned to see us bounce up again this week.
