Michigan Opens at 1 Point Road Favorite and Quickly Swings to 3 Point Road Dog vs Rutgers

Submitted by alum96 on

What's the saying?  When you look around the room and can't find the sucker... the sucker is you?

Even the suckers in Vegas are no longer putting money on the name brand team.  I think when a line swing's 4 pts in minutes that tells you something.

The only game we should be favored in the rest of the year are the two vs bye.

Editor's Note: We initially reported that Michigan was a one-point road favorite against Rutgers, that number quickly changed so we decided to post a story with the correct Vegas line.

According to VegasInsiders, the Wolverines are 3-point road underdogs heading into New Jersey after suffering back-to-back lackluster performances at home against Minnesota and Utah. When the first odds were posted, VegasInsiders initially had Michigan as 1-point road favorites to open, but quickly went in Rutgers favor.

when I said that the day would quickly come when Rutgers kicked a few B1G teams' behinds. I was greeted with derision. Gonna be mighty hard to bring out those talented NJ high school kids in future.

If the Rutgers students are clever they'll arrive with signs saying that WE should be kicked out of the conference.

Michigan favored to win vrs Rutger would be crazier given the quarterback situation on top everything else that is going on and our horrific road performances. Not trying to be a downer. I am way beyond being emotional. Just very comfortably numb and objective.

On the plus side we do play out of our behinds for night home games and PSU is very ordinary, so all is not lost.

Allegedly it takes about 200k off balance to move the line one point so that means 800K dropped fast on Rutgers.  Damn - that's a lot of money to hit the books that fast.  Looks like people saw that line and jumped on it HARD.

The last two Michigan road wins:

  • A 27-19 win over Northwestern in triple overtime that was complete horseshit and should have been Michigan's 3 straight loss.
  • A 24-21 butthair win over an incompetent UConn team coached by Pasqualoni.

Rutgers football genuinely sucks, but by now we all know how Michigan plays and how Saturday night's movie ends.

The only thing we will get to observe now until the Ohio game in Columbus is theater.  BTN is broadcasting the game vs. Rutgers unfortunately. I'm sure they'll play up and revel in Hoke's broiling chair and the significance of "Rutgers' victory over mighty Michigan in their first attempt!", etc.

Like the Minny game, it's gonna suck.

Who the fuck cares?

If you have Comcast TV (channel 900 in SE Michigan) check out Michigan Hockey at Ferris State. That's a huge season opener. Most likely a top-10 match up.

And Hockey actually cares about the safety and health of their players!

They deserve the TV eyes more than the Football program does. Luckily DB is too busy ruining the Football program that he can't move over to another one until he's done with FB.

Pray that we're done with him by the time the Football team plays their next home game.

We're getting blown out at home by 3 scores, the fact that we're only a 3 PT dog on the road is amazing.

Looking at the schedule I'm not sure we should be favored in any of our remaining games.

Yes I'm walking it and surveying the sights.  But this year and out in Soprano-land my beloved Wolverines are going to lose.  The Don, no not an Oxbridge Don, will demand in its pursuit of bloodlust that a "statement" be made and Rutgers will run up the score.  First to play American football, after all.  We are going to git skinned and place upon a mantle in some obscure Jersey cottage.  Poked with sticks even.

My Temple Owls would roll Rutgers.

When the hell did I have more confidence in Temple football than Michigan football.

What sort of bizarre world are we living in? It's like someone would tell me that an unqualified former Regent named Dave Brandon, a Republican political hopeful and CEO of a pizza company had somehow taken over Michigan athletics...

Only 3 point dogs?  Wow.  Lay the points.  Easiest money anyone has ever made.  We're going to get run off the field.

If Hoke is not fired, then we are finishing the season 2-10.  Bank on it.  Minnesota was ourr last chance at an easy win and we got run off of the field in that one.

was to LT, and was likely 33-ZONE RunPlay.  LT is Mason Cole, who evidently is coming along Very Nicely as an OL.

So--  you might see more RunPlays LEFT.  Whether its 33-Zone, or 31-ISO to LG, or From Gun and RB 31-33 VEER to the left of the Formation.

But the Nuss-O remains Widely Scattered--  O-call sequencing and Actual Play Selection, in effect Poor.

The Borges-Nuss dynamic, and the Hoke Hire of Nuss, is Self-Evident . . .
