Must win! UM fell to 15 in the Pairwise, and needs to keep their head above water here. Damn, those two loses to PSU really a big weight in our sinking NCAA  Boat.

Question for all the puckheads out there.  Do you think this is Red's last season and if so who is likely to replace him?  I don't follow hockey very closely (really only engage if they make the Frozen Four) but from the comments I've read on the board it sure seems like people think it's time for him to move on.  But I also read an equal number of "he's earned the right to leave when he's ready to leave" which sounds a LOT like the PSU fans during the last few years of Joe Paterno.

I get that no coach likes going out with the program heading downhill but on the other hand, if it wasnt going downhill nobody would want Red to leave.  So which is it - does he leave or is he the coach next year?

Red has always said that when he feels like he's not the right guy for the program anymore, he will walk away. If they miss the postseason he will retire.

Red doesn't really have a coaching tree, so everyone's guess right now is Mel Pearson.

no information to support me here, I'm gonna slightly go out on a limb here and predict that Red, at very latest, will retire by the end of next season.   I wouldn't be at all surprised if it happens at the end of this season, his "body language" on the bench seems to indicate to me that it's become more of a chore than he's up for anymore.

But as to whether he's earned the right to decide when it's time to go vs. being fired/let go of?  Yes, absolutely his call, IMO.

the play during Friday night's shootout loss (and several other recent games), I am not at all confident that this team is capable of securing a spot in this years tournament.  Too many holes in the way they play the game.  PP problems (0-for-6?!!), PK problems, poorly-placed passes, leaky defense.  And Red looks on TV like he's as frustrated as we are with what he sees.

I don't remember the exact stats, but didn't we out-shoot OSU by at least a dozen shots Friday?  Problem is, most of them are from so far outside that they don't have any chance unless someone is there to scoop in a blocked shot that trickles away from the goalie, and there weren't many of those opportunities Friday.

Is there a better team to beat to try and get the season turned around? I say no! my friends there is no better team to beat than the Bucks, ok with the exception of the Spartans. Or maybe Minnesota, but you catch my meaning here right?  Right? crickets crickets Go Blue dammit. beat Ohio.
