Michigan offers Darrin Kirkland, Jr. & Asmar Bilal
Michigan offered Indianapolis (IN) Lawrence Central LB Darrin Kirkland, Jr. I'm starting this thread mainly because he seems to be a fairly likely candidate to commit to Michigan. He's been to Michigan a bunch of times and is one of four teams listed as "Warm" on 247, but the only one of the four that hadn't offered yet. He's a 247 Composite 4-star, the #6 ILB, and #201 overall. Josh Barajas's commitment to Penn State may have something to do with the offer going out at this point.

Michigan also offered Indianapolis (IN) Ben Davis LB Asmar Bilal, who visited Michigan with Kirkland recently. He's the 247 Composite #7 ILB and #224 overall, so just a notch below Kirkland.
Magnus, do you think he was waiting for the Michigan offer? or is it too little too late for Michigan?
When he left Michigan a couple weeks ago, he was a little bit disappointed that they hadn't offered. But they've been keeping up with him consistently, so I definitely don't think it's too late for Michigan. In fact, I would tentatively guess that Michigan would jump into the driver's seat here. When kids maintain Michigan as a top school without having been offered, that seems to be good news.
You're welcome.
Thanks!
were the sons of Magnus Samuelsson and Magnús Ver Magnússon, respectively.
Sure, those are strong individuals, but give me the son of Sven Svenson any day.
Love the reference. The greatest Strongman of all time.
I hope it's good news that TomVH tweeted this today.
Darrin Kirkland says he still plans to announce on May 30 as well.

are you going to post something soon?
I probably won't post anything about him until my weekly recruiting update on Monday.
TTB is really improving. The format is great and easy to follow the progress of Michigan recruiting.
Thanks. I'm in the process of trying to move the website, but I'm trying to maintain the general format, since it seems to be working pretty well. I'm glad you like it.
love that kids film. Big and great speed.
Looks like he has the JMFR accelerating missle lock system.
LB recruiting getting very interesting now.
I like the offer. He just has a LB name.
Yeah. I wonder if his dad is Levon Kirkland...
Well, that's sad that his wife died.
I was actually just kidding about being Levon's son, since it's Darrin Kirkland, Jr...so his dad is probably named Darrin. But thanks for the info about Levon, anyway.
Asmar Bilal. Do you know much about him?
I've watched his film. He visited a few weeks ago with Kirkland. I had been hearing that he was leaning toward Notre Dame, but we'll see if the Michigan offer has an effect. Kirkland is more of a traditional MIKE, but Bilal is taller and lankier, more of a SAM prospect, in my opinion.
Bilal looks more like an OLB. Better athlete, a bit more explosive especially in his first step. But he also fails to wrap up a lot and doesn't have the broad shoulders that Kirkland has.
Kirkland seems better at picking his way through traffic and does a good job squaring up at contact; much more of a traditional MIKE in the way he plays.
This is my high school. Come here bro. I still live in AA we can carpool back to Indy. I swear I'm not creepy...
This is going to be a ND-Michigan battle, especially now that UM has offered. Bilal visits ND on Saturday, so we'll see if they offer. I imagine they do, but who knows. I really like where UM sits with both. Bilal's tape is very good. What an explosive athlete, and great closing speed. Lanky frame. Will be interested to see how much weight he can continue to add onto his frame.
Bilal reminds me physically of Jaylon Smith from Notre Dame, although Bilal isn't as explosive of an athlete.
Are we recruiting Tommy Kraemer out of Cincinnati Elder? He is a 2016 OL and seems to be very highly regarded. Just wondering as I read osu just offered him, and he is a lifelong Michigan fan.
I'm not aware of Michigan recruiting Kraemer. He hasn't been offered and hasn't visited, as far as I know. I did see that OSU offered him, so I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan offers, too.
Thanks, as always.
I'm not good at percentages, but I think Utah is the front-runner with Michigan #2.
How many LB's will Michigan probably be taking this year?
It's not always a one-for-one situation, but Michigan loses Morgan and Ryan after this season. And the number of offers they've sent out (without looking, I think it's around 15) suggests 2-3.
I like the vibe Kirkland is emulating and I like our chances with him. He's visited on his own without an offer, his twitter account has been Michigan related, and with Barajas committing to PSU and Bilal a ND lean, I feel like Kirkland is a future Wolverine. Didn't he already set his commitment date before the offer came? I've been hearing May 30?
Yeah, he set it for May 30.
