Michigan offers CB Tre' Bell

Michigan has recently sent an offer out to NJ CB/ WR Tre' Bell.

Bell is listed at 5'11", 170 lbs

Junior highlights here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YN5s6J21EM

Profile here: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5588984

Looks like he has potential but he would definitely be redshirted IMO if he were to sign.

EDIT: Looks like this offer has been added into the wiki already - please feel free to delete if redundant.

or he gave his opinion based on film. I don't think the opinion of whether a redshirt year would help a player is such an offense to get a snarky post like yours in response. Otherwise, you need to start posting in every recruiting thread on this cite to be consistent.

it wasn't so much snarky as it was sarcasm. I can understand how a lot of people on this site have a lot more football knowledge than i do. In cases like these though i always love to speculate as well but it all comes down to the coaches and what they think, because we are pretty consistently wrong as fans.

I would have to assume because he's listed at 170 right now but senior year + lifting + 7v7's could see him put on weight.

While he has talent - we have T-Rich and Countess who will probably be more seasoned campaigners by the time he comes in.

He is diminutive at this point and shows speed. He throws himself around and plays with a passion but his technique probably needs work.

Essentially based on his film and size, I think he will benefit from a redshirt (barring any injuries to our more senior CBs)

170lbs is not that undersized for a HS junior CB. Hell, I don't think Courtney Avery was 170 when he got to campus, and he played as a true frosh. CB is not a spot you need a lot of beef to be good in college, but even so, this kid could easily be 180 by the time he enrolls somewhere, making him plenty big to see the field.

I just don't see how anyone, even our own coaches, can look at a HS JR CB and say he'll redshirt, unless he's a physical freak but just raw as hell.

As far as a redshirt; If a Corner gets an offer from M this early in the cycle, I gotta believe Hoke and Co. are impressed with his everything.

OP,

I don't see what you're seeing. Tre' may only weigh 170, but his highlights show that he isn't afraid of contact, is critical to his team's run support, and exhibits good instincts. He also plays WR, so he probably has good hands.

Based on flimsy evidence, I think he could make an impact for us as a true freshman.
