That is a big kid that he literally levels.  Exactly the type of physical back we need blocking down field for a strong running game.  Quite frankly, I feel our receivers do a nice job at that already.  They were well coached in that dept., which i guess is pretty typical in a spread offense.  He seems like a really physical kid.

I don't think the stars mean anything at this point. That's obviously a 4 star (minimum) offer sheet. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at USC.

the recruiting sites will give out the majority of their 4 stars in a couple months.  A lot of players who have 3 stars now are actually 4 stars.  It's just that the sites tend to be cautious at first.

He's pretty open at the moment, but he likes Miami, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Ohio State.

I have gotten the impression, though, that Michigan was one of his favorites when the old coaching staff was in place. We'll see if Hoke can restore that place in his recruitment.

It's obvious that the coaches didn't want any WR in the 2011 class, regardless of how good they are.

They didn't actually want Lucien to come here and play CB, but that is the tactic used to tell him he wasn't wanted in the class.

I can't remember the exact number, but we have something like 17 scholarship receivers on the roster currently. The coaches obviously want to decrease that number down to something closer to 10-12, so they're probably going to take 1-2 fewer WR in each class than the amount that graduate for a couple years.

We had two WR's redshirt, so Lucien would have made three for the class of 2011. It's not like 4* guys are so rare for Michigan that we'll never get another one..........

Actually, three wideouts redshirted (depending on where Ricardo Miller lines up, that's him, Williamson and Robinson) so in effect you've got three 2011 receivers, plus Baquer Sayed (unsure how good he is but he got good MAC offers) on the roster.

At this point, 16% of the available scholarships are being used on wideouts, where WRs take up about 8% of available starting spots on the team.

Back in the Lloyd Carr era there were never more than 7-8 scholarship wideouts on the roster at any one time. Right now I think it's 13. No wideouts were needed this year. 1-2 are needed next year, along with the necessary 5 OLs, 6 DTs, 2 TEs, 1 QB, 2 RBs, 1 LB, and 3 DBs.

I actually like the idea of only having 8 or so on scholarship, because it allows us to target one elite WR in each class.

I'm not so sure that Baquer Sayed will ever be offered a scholarship though with the defensive restocking we'll be doing over the next couple years.

I really wish this whole star system goes away at some point.  Obviously, it doesn't really matter what the kid gets.  Seems like the kid has decent straight line speed.

I hate to say this, but watching his film, I liked him on defense better than offense.  Not saying I wouldn't let him play offense, but if we're trying to limit our WR's the next couple years, it'd be nice to go after the ones that could make a switch if we don't need them on offense.

It is nice to go after talent and I am guessing that Hoke feels he has some pull in the area after his SDSU adventure.

Overall I think we should really concentrate on our areas of need since we are relatively well stacked on WRs

This is a good offer though considering there is always room for elite talent.

We lose Hemmingway, Odoms, Stonum, and Grady. Taking 1-2 in the 2012 class will still decrease the overall number on the roster.

It also wouldn't shock me if at least one of the younger slots decides to transfer. We're going to need some WR's in the class, just not the 4-5 we've been taking each year recently.

Cuts on a dime, above average speed, soft hands and tackles really well.  I could see him at a number of positions.  As many have said, I could certainly see him gaining a 4th star but regardless, the apparent immeasurables: plays with a mean streak and bad intentions, runs north and south after 1st cut, and fights for the YAC, speak volumes of this kids potential with great coaching and development at the next level.  Would love to see him in a winged helmet.
