Michigan-notre dame 2014 will be a night game

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Looks like the final game in the series against the fig thing chickens will be a night game.

This is a must win game for historical purposes.

The 2014 Irish home game against Michigan will be a night game and will be televised in prime time by NBC.

It is a nice place to see a college game even if it doesn't have the latest and greatest in technology, and one thing I have always found interesting about it is that the stadium was designed in the late 1920s by the same Cleveland architectural firm that did other historic sites like Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park.

Yeah.  I didn't know that about the architectural firm but I don't think it mattered - Rockne followed our blueprint, as ND fans themselves acknowledge:

Rockne, impressed by Michigan’s massive stadium, had Notre Dame Stadium designed based off the Big House only on a smaller scale with a construction cost of $750,000

Notre Dame's campus is beautiful.

In 2002 I sat in the end zone (in front of TDJ) in row 8, and when the teams were inside the opposite red zone, you can't tell what's happening because the field is so crowned. Plus, we lost.

Fortunately, I was also at the beat down in the big house in 2003. Probably my best experience at the Big House.

I agree with Seth; the surrounding area and campus life suck: http://mgoblog.com/content/hokepoints-am-i-living-it-right

South Bend and Notre Dame du Lac vs. Ann Arbor: If not for the signs (which you should ignore because they tell dirty lies) you wouldn't realize there's a city here. Northern Indiana once you leave the part you pass to get to Chicago is right out of Rudy: small industrial belt homes nooked close together right up to the point campus has to start.

and..

The closest thing they have to a State Street or South University is a one-block collection of chain-ish restaurants in a pair of newer building complexes that straddle Eddy Street.

The Grotto looks like a place hobo's go to take a piss.

Yup. I've never agreed with the notion than ND was bigger, or even close to, MSU as a rival. I think the fact that even one of the participants wanted to cancel the rivalry should confirm to many of us that they have always been a distant third whenever MSU is even remotely competitive.

We'll probably be playing for the all-time win%, as well as an opportunity to get in the final punch. I think #98 is enough to beat ND. Golson isn't the QB that all the Domers think he is, and they lose a lot on both sides of the ball next year. Tommy won't be there to bail out Golson if he comes out and plays like he did last time we faced him.

Win this game...a lot of the Heat will go away. Lose this game.....oh boy. We also need to win one of the other two rivalry games. We can do this fellas....the past 3 games against Ohio we have scored 1 more point than them combined. They are not dominant over us anymore.

Yeah, I know.  But we've been playing longer.

When ND used to have the winning percentage record, they would say that that was what counted.  How many games did you win of the games you played?  It was hard to argue.

So it was a big deal when we took that record.  I want it back.

It sets up nicely.  They will likely beat Rice and we will likely beat App State (yeah, I know).

Among the million other points of interest in the 2014 Michigan - Notre Dame game will be the battle for the All Time Winning Percentage title.

Navy every year and that only recently become something less than a scheduled "W".  They have traditionally had a much weaker schedule, playing two or three marquee games a year. Also, playing in a conference with teams who are familiar with you will always be tougher than roatting out two-thirds of your opponents every year.

article says playing in all the top TV markets, specifically listing Detroit.

game by game does not show a game at Detroit.

Are they anticipating a Little Caesar's Bowl bid??
