UTL I just finished.
8:00 Michigan season preview
8:30 Northwestern at Michigan 2012
Started with a Ola Dubh 21, now I'm onto Alewerks Twenty Knots.
Brian's prediction coming true? Maybe, but it's a package deal, so it's not just MTV or Nick that is being streamed, it's all of them.
The BTN is jointly owned with Fox (obviously a cable empire) and hopefully be bundled with their channels if they were to ever reach a similar deal with a streaming TV company.
Kugels shandy while watching kegels
Smirnoff vodka with flavored soda water, splash of Cranberry and lime twist. Nice and refreshing for a hot summer day.
a "girlie drink" comment, but that does sound refreshing.
call it a girlie drink. Not going to deny that it is. But it's so damn good. The best part -- Smirnoff is cheap but I think its taste rivals much higher priced Grey Goose vodka.
Sipping on Oberon up at the country club
It so happens that I have in the beer fridge precisely what I consumed after the end of said Northwestern-Michigan game, so Franziskaner Weissbier it is.
For those that may miss it, the BTN still lists the Michigan preview for five and a half hours in the morning tomorrow, so hopefully you can catch then if you miss it now.
You certainly enjoy your wheats. If you can get your hands on a bottle of White Oak, from the Bruery, I promise you will not be disappointed.
White Oak is a Wheat Wine, correct? I recently had my first offering of this style, and didn't care for it. That said the offering was from the local brewpub, and is nowhere near The Bruery's status in the beer world.
Yes its a wheat wine, 11.5% and barrel aged, with vanilla bourbon notes. Boulevard makes another very good wheat wine.
Funny enough, I have Boulevard's Harvest Ale (the wheat wine I believe you are talking about) on the way and should be receiving it here shortly. Even though I didn't enjoy the style much, Boulevard has yet to let me down. A very, very good brewery that is somewhat underapreciated in the beer world.
I'm heading down to Pizanos on State St in Chicago. Stop on down and I'll buy you a drink.
God I love Brady Hoke
How can you not like that beard?
Larceny Bourbon and Two Hearted.
Ruination by Stone tonight.
What's up with Joe Bolden. He is never mentioned and I saw zero footage of him on the BTN special
Did anyone notice that Hoke said Jenkins-Stone redshirted? Hmmm?
Did he? I saw him play on several Special Teams plays last year. Or am I wrong?
He's listed as a sophomore on the mgoblue roster
A nice post ride chocolate milk. The beer fridge is empty (except for Natty Ice...so its empty). In other news my Battlefield 3 download is about to finish so thats exciting I suppose. If you're a PC gamer looking to score some games for dirt cheap, like $5 for 8 games, then definitely check out the Humble Bundle website some time in the next 2 weeks.
Watching the Northwestern game reminds me of how terrible the OL was last year. It can only get better, right?
I now only consume on Friday and Saturday, so I've been a bit more of a lush tonight than I usually am. So far I've had a Freedom's Edge (Cheyenne, WY) Steamboat Russian Imperial Stout and a Lander (Lander, WY) Devil's Advocate English Barley Wine. Both are "big" beers, coming in at 13 and 9.5 percent, respectively. Next up, and last for the night most likely, a Boulevard Rye on Rye.
Rye on Rye is in my top 25 beers.
The local beer store is trying to get rid of their stock of Rye on Rye and is selling their 750's at a 5.50 price point. I picked up 3 bottles today, and will continue to do so every two weeks until they are out.
That's crazy cheap. I'd be buying it by the case at that price.
This was posted yesterday.
Edmund Fitzgerald, FFF's Drunk Monk and maybe a few New Glarus Two Women lagers if I don't pass out before then. Mixing up my styles per usual, can't let the palate grow complacent.
Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale...First time I've tried it and it's damn good! It's in the discussion to meet or pass Two Heated for my favorite.
Just wait until the winter and get Lagunitas Sucks. It will blow your mind. For the price, it beats Hopslam.
Definitely going to try that, thanks!
Lagunitas, for the price point, might be one of the best microbreweries in the US. Bold statement but they are so consistent and brew some great stuff.
Hop Stoopid (when fresh) is one of the best deals out there in a 22oz format. Great beer in the 4-6 dollar range. Avery Maharaja is close behind.
Lagunitas Sucks is not only one of the best DIPAs out there, but possibly the best introduction to the style as well, in my opinion.
The best DIPA I've encountered so far is Odell Myrcenary (Odell IPA is probably my favorite regular IPA), and yes I've had Pliny. The IPA's I really want to try are Heady Topper, Nelson, and the Hills Farmstead offerings in the style.
For approximately a year I've been haunted by the one DIPA I had at a place in Minneapolis that I put on par with Hopslam at the time. I could not, for the life of me, remember its name until I read Odell Myrcenary. You've just made my night, good sir or madam.
I'm turning 21, and my friends got me Grey Goose vodka. What should I mix it with? Help me MGoAlcoholics!
Orange juice, tonic, 7up, juice and soda combo, ginger ale, cranberry juice, or just the vodka on the rocks because that is pretty good on its own....so many possibilities!
Nothing. Maybe some club soda with a lime on the rocks.
Mixers with Vodka are endless. What you need to worry about tonight is the shots! Good luck lil man. Ahhhhh to be 21 again.
Nothing but ice and little squeeze of limè.
Hoke mentioned we redshirted Royce Jenkins stone. I thought he lost his redshirt on special teams no?
Odd Side Citra Pale Ale.
Arnold Palmer heavy on the Wild Turkey American Honey
Add vodka to your Arnold Palmer. It'll be a similar experience to your first time at Dominick's.
like what happened a few plays back, where Simeon gets flushed from the pocket and 113k people start roaring because he's most likely about to get destroyed? Just thinking about it, that's like gladiator shit. I like it.
Ross was clutch there. This game was so close.
Yuengling light. One of the few perks of working near Ohio is the great beers that I can pick up there
Yuengling is ok, but it is Sam Adams light. Draft is good, other than that pretty blah.
Yeungling and Fat Tire are the two most overrated beers out there. They were solid back when macrobrews ruled but not anymore.
Everyone has different tastes. Some like Yeungling and Fat Fire, and some don't. However, the fact that some (most beer snobs) don't like the beer doesn't make it overrated. I personally don't care much for most lagers, but that doesn't mean there aren't tons of great lagers out there or the ones made out there are overrated. Everyone has a different palate. I love those that love lagers and pilsners, leaves more RIS and BA stouts and DIPAs for me.
There are good lagers and bad lagers. Every lager isn't the same.
I realize this, but it doesn't make others that folks enjoy "overrated". To me most lagers are a waste of my time. Give me a much more complex ale any day of the week over (what I consider) a bland lager. Marzen's and Doppelbocks, and the occasional Rauchbier are all I care for in lager variety.
I understand that but for the price and demand, Shiner Bock is better than both. That's just my opinion but there's a ton of other good options - especially in Michigan.
Flying dog double pale ale
Big Red Coq
Wookey Jack by Firestone Walker....black rye IPA
Korbel brandy because Wisconsin. I was actually at the Korbel champagne cellars in CA recently, taking the free tour, and the guide asks "do any of you happen to be from Wisconsin?" My girlfriend and I slowly raised our hands, and he looks surprised. "Really? Cool! Over 75% of the brandy we make is consumed by the state of Wisconsin." We high five.
Kirkland drinking water, the unfortunate but responsible DD tonight.
A job no one wants, but should be applauded for doing. Thank you for taking up the job, and making other folks' drinking responsible. May a great, delicious beer be waiting for you when you are done with the dd duties.
Last few weeks of Oberon.
I spy a ton of pistol formations and zone reads
Deschutes Inversion IPA on the docket and maybe a bit of Anchor Liberty Ale
they have so many good beers. Great venue too.
At the Aviary in Chicago. Great cocktails
I was there last night and that was great summer cocktail.
Drinking Greenbush Sunspot tonight.
The preseason has generated some reasonably interesting storylines. Chudzinski appears to be getting production out of the roster he inherited. I was amazed when I saw Weeden throw 8/12 with 2 TDs against the Lions! We're very sorry about that. Then again the Browns are one of the best preseason teams I've ever seen.
Mallett and Brady both got 1 TD and broke 100 yards passing.
As much as I despise the 49ers, they haveDawson now so a little piece of me went with him to San Francisco. 15-13 sounds like a great ballgame to me. Dawson was 3/3 with a long of 55 - another day at the office.
Cisco Summer Lager
Sixpoint Bengali Tiger IPA
Spotted Cow and then the end, a Three Floyd's Robert the Bruce
Great Lakes Oktoberfest, fantastic
Now on my 2nd Jameson
my self a Sublimely Self-Righteous brown ale from the Stone brewery, San Diego, CA. Very good beer!
I don't have BTN. Watching the '72 UM vs OSU game that Brian posted. Except I cannot find episode 4!
cool place! The food wasn't all that great (circa 2009-ish) but I loved the beer garden and atmosphere, not to mention the beer.
Budweiser and saw Two Guns.
Just drinking a couple of Red Bulls as I dragged my ass home empty handed. Struck out gator hunting tonight. I'm pretty sure the only thing we got tonight was West Nile Virus.
were you actually hunting gators or is that your way of saying you were "hunting gators"?
Actually hunting alligators. Somehow, we had two gators come unhooked. It didn't help that there seemed to be very few big gators. Someone about 100 yards from us got one that was 10', and there were a few others taken that size, but we really didn't see any.
that is bad ass. Tell a guy that on the street and he'll turn and walk the other way.
was at a show tonight, had a bunch of different things:
naragansett, followed by a wachusett blueberry, then magic hat #9, and then a curious traveler shandy.
