Michigan needs Indiana to beat Wisconsin

Submitted by rdlwolverine on

I am concerned that if Wisconsin beats Indiana to reach the BTT final or wins the whole thing, the Badgers could get a higher seed than Michigan.  This could then bump the Wolverines from Auburn Hills and send Michigan off to Austin or San Jose or someplace.  So, I will be rooting for the Hoosiers to beat Wisconsin tomorrow.

Right now, Indiana, Gonzaga, Duke, Miami (FL), Georegetown, Louisville, and Kansas will be seeded higher. It's looking like Florida, Sparty, New Mexico, and OSU will be too. That leaves 1 more 3-seed open. We used to root against these teams so Michigan could get a higher seed, now we need to root for them so teams like Syracuse, Kansas St, and yes, even Wisconsin don't jump us.

I know I'm going to get nailed but this team is playing terrible basketball. The seeding really isn't going to matter if we can't pull our shit together. Worrying about the seeding is like worrying about a minor leak on the titanic

I'm much more concerned with who the other teams are in our region than our seed.If we get bumped out of the Auburn Hills site we will likely go out West where teams like Gonzaga,Ariz will be,an easier group imo   The least of worries is our seed,of more importance is the way we have been playing lately.

I would not be so quick to want to play Gonzaga. They may be a weak #1 ranked team compared to other teams but they have guards who can penetrate, big men who can finish, and crash the boards. Not a great match up for Michigan. Don't know much about Arizona, but they did have enough athleticism to beat Florida on their own court. Again, not a good match for Michigan. Actually, once you get past the "real" first round and the 32 "worst" teams (the automatic qualifiers from small conferences) are all out, you're basically left with playing the 32 best teams in the country from then on out. Again, not a pleasant thought give how Michigan has been playing lately.

It's not clear if the pod system would slot UW in Auburn Hills.  Dayton, OH is another venue and it's almost exactly the same distance away from Madison.

they are playing like an 8-9 seed.

they need to improve to win more than 1 game regardless of seeding or region. otherwise, watching them lose in auburn hlls will not be that much fun.

It's all my fault...I didn't watch the IU or Wisky games today - but did watch the PSU game...two losses when I didn't watch, and a win when I did.  I will take the blame for this one.

I promise-promise to watch them in the NCAA Tourney.

Who gives a shit where or who we play. Look we will play either up to our potential or play pike shit regardless of who or where we play. That should be the least of our concern. The main factor is simply whether or not we play with or without our heads up our asses. There is no longer any nice way to put that.

All the fanbases are not going to be there at all times.  The games are staggered.  Unless U-M and MSU play back-to-back, there aren't going to be that many rival fans watching each others' games.  Even if you absolutely hate MSU's guts, would you go to their game if it were on six hours before the Michigan game?

What will probably happen is that we'll play in front of like 10-12,000 U-M fans, a smattering of the opposition's fans, and several thousand empty seats.

would be a dangerous matchup for us because they pound it inside and have some good off. rebounders ( I really hated saying that but it's true)

Yeah - there are some good teams in the 4-5 seed range. If we can manage a 3 seed, we might draw a team outside the top 25 and have a better chance of making the sweet 16.

we need to take care of our own destiny.  One more game and it could be over.  Spring football here we come.
