Michigan Monday up at "The Ozone."

Michigan Monday is up at the Ozone. Not going to quote much, as the Iowa loss is too depressing, and so is reading about it.

One observation made was the prediction of a victory at Illinois:

Winning out certainly seems daunting. For some reason, however, I'm pretty confident in a Michigan win over Illinois right now. I can't imagine a bye week for Ron Zook is actually a good thing for the Illini.

I am very interested to see how Michigan responds to their loss, and tend to agree that Hoke, Mattison, and Borges will have their team up, ready to go, and destroy Illinois. I still believe that Nebraska and Ohio are winnable games, and don't think winning out is unthinkable. I would be ecstatic to beat Illinois and Ohio. One comment made elsewhere is that Michigan needs a signature win, and I agree. It is critical to win at least one of our last two games, preferably both, and most preferably against Ohio.

With the championship game likely out of reach (?), I think I'd prefer a victory over Nebraska and OSU if Michigan can only win 2 of their last 3.  I'd love to see Michigan win the first matchup with Nebraska as a B1G member (kind of like what they did to PSU in that first matchup back in 1994 (?)).

I do think we need a signature win to really make the season stand out. Right now that's ND, but they're a 6-3 team that will probably only finish 8-4, and outside of MSU, no real good wins

"It seems like the more Al Borges finds out what Robinson can do, the more determined he is to not let him do it. Robinson under center is fine if you've got a running game that can support him, but when he's 42% of your running game, you can't expect him to pick up the slack via the scramble."

Sad but true.

The solution you offered was for us Google Michigan Monday. That takes us to the Ozone, where we then have to select the Columns tag and search for Michigan Monday. Think of the thousands of MGoBloggers spending all that time getting to Michigan Monday, as opposed to one user just posting the link, and the rest of us just clicking a single link.

This reminds me of a story about Steve Jobs. He, supposedly, was checking with the software guy in charge of the boot software. He challenged the guy to save every second he could from the routine, because one second per day per millions of apple users saves a lot of time. I think of this every time I restart my Microsoft-based computer and the minutes it takes before it's ready.

Al Borges has done a good job of installing his system while keeping a few of the old plays and protecting Denard.  Michigan should win nine games this year, which will be fine for the first year after a radical regime change.

As for the lack of a "signature win:" puh-leeze.  The term is just another excuse/destination for people looking or a reason to bitch during a season that could have been a lot "worse" than it is now.  It's not like Michigan is Boise State, playing two real teams and ten tomato cans; Michigan has to bring their best game out most of the time.  There aren't a lot of "top end" teams in the B1G right now, but there are plenty of very good teams, and beating any of them is good enough for me.

Besides, if anyone really wants to focus on a "signature win," it is obvious that there is only one game that is going to matter.

Bo got off to a good start by beating Ohio. I think that many fans are unhappy, looking at Michigan's record vs. MSU & Ohio (& Wisconsin) over the last few years. For Michigan to beat both Ohio and MSU will go a long way toward satisfying much of the fan base.

Heh.  Tomato cans.  This guy, he's crazy ... he's crazy, but I like him.  I think the idea of a 'signature win' is just having a win that makes you feel good, when certain goals (like the B1G championship) become unreachable.  A little something to hang your hat on & say "Well boys, we didn't win it all this year, but at least we beat those buckeyes."  And then there's a big group cheer & everyone drinks.
