Let's Go Blue! No more games like the last one, plz.
Saw this quote from Mac Bennett:
There is life after hockey. Whether that's tomorrow or 10 to 15 years from now, I'm not sure. I wanted to make sure I was prepared for that.
We might not play as many games as junior does but we're practicing probably twice as much, which I think is huge, especially for a guy like me, an undersized (6', 190 lbs) defenseman who needed a little bit of time to develop.
I've seen my game improve by leaps and bounds since I've been here just in terms of playing defense in my own zone and creating offense up front. I have no regrets about coming to Michigian. I love this place.
Rhode Island native Mac Bennett is nearly ready for the next step in his hockey career and will have a musicology degree as well.

You know, I am sick of this Adidas frog. When we return to Nike I hope this frog adjusts his Pantone number.

any word on severity of Guptill's injury?
February 14th, 2014 at 8:28 PM ^
We'll probably know more on Thursday, but nothing yet.

thanks

take control of your destiny, and let's get that first win!
February 14th, 2014 at 8:31 PM ^
What the shit? Is the game on BTN after the MSU Penn State game?
February 14th, 2014 at 8:32 PM ^
We're in Minnesota, it's on BTN but it's a late start
February 14th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
Yep our game isn't till 9. Still got 20 minutes
February 14th, 2014 at 8:31 PM ^
Wisconsin is down 2-0 to Ohio State towards the end of the 2nd.
February 14th, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
Passing Wisconsin with two games still in hand would be nice breathing room for 2nd
February 14th, 2014 at 8:43 PM ^
which I find disappointing for a few reasons. I wanted PSU to win to make me feel a little better about our loss and it's still fun to see MSU flounder with their modern version of Gerry Faust
February 14th, 2014 at 8:45 PM ^
you are asking for goals against as a goalie if you kick rebounds out like that
February 14th, 2014 at 8:53 PM ^
That's about as easy of a rebound/tip-in as you could ask for for MSU. I wish Skoff had been so kind to us last weekend
February 14th, 2014 at 9:00 PM ^
you earn the bounces you get...Michigan was nowhere near dangerous enough to get those bounces.

Red & Michigan Hockey also got some love on NBC today during the Austria-Canada game. They mentioned Lebler and how he had the Red Berenson Scholarship or something at Michigan. Always good to get a little program recognition during the biggest event in hockey

Now a game between the bottom two teams in the conference is going to overlap with a game between the 1st and 2nd/3rd
February 14th, 2014 at 8:55 PM ^
Watching the offenses in this game is like the softest of pillow fights
Both teams have good goaltending, fine defense, and just boring slow offenses. I'm not sure how either team got to 2 goals
February 14th, 2014 at 9:00 PM ^
I'm really bored with no NHL so I might hang around and watch this hockey game while drinking a cold Sam Adams
February 14th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
Dammit, why is this game not over?
February 14th, 2014 at 9:04 PM ^
This is the exact reason why I HATE being the late game

MSU wins the shootout 1-0 in the 7th round

Winner winner chicken dinner
February 14th, 2014 at 9:05 PM ^
This shootout is a slapfight
February 14th, 2014 at 9:06 PM ^
This dude is really breaking down why people stand up at a game! Wow,... Sometimes they stand up when there's a goal, sometimes they stand up when they get excited, and now they are standing for this shoutout , got to love hockey fans. That's some real insight pal.

absolutely gross

Minn with the 2-1 a minute in the game, but a big save by Racine

Also Michigan basketball radio guy Matt Shepard is doing the game. I was like "I know that voice"
Been watching for some time now

goalpost for Minnesota...sounds like Michigan is going to have to survive for a little bit here

Fuck! They score, 1-0 them.
February 14th, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
They look a lot more comfortable on the big sheet
February 14th, 2014 at 9:12 PM ^
can we go back to the shootout slap fight?
February 14th, 2014 at 9:12 PM ^
Was getting tired of those throwbacks. These look sharp

February 14th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Why is it that some schools can have the larger sheets of ice and others not? Shouldn't it be a standardized thing? Football games aren't played on Canadian fields ever so why does hockey differ?
February 14th, 2014 at 9:18 PM ^
I think it's a strong recommendation and not a requirement that teams play on NHL sheets. However, given that college hockey is tenuous and expensive as is, I think they pretty much let teams do whatever they want. People aren't going to build a new arena to fit the NHL requirement and painting new lines on a field is a lot easier than redoing an ice rink
February 14th, 2014 at 9:21 PM ^
I agree with this, but don't that have an nhl sheet left over from the northstars. They could have easily made the switch when the northstars moved south
February 14th, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
but Mariucci is right on Minnesota's campus. They wouldn't make Minnesota go play off-campus when they have their own rink already
February 14th, 2014 at 9:29 PM ^
Didn't they do that with the metrodome?
February 14th, 2014 at 9:38 PM ^
Baseball and softball have fields that vary in size, have varying fence heights, ect. My understanding is that soccer fields aren't standardized either.
February 14th, 2014 at 9:16 PM ^
Stats when you're as good as Minnesota (19-4-5) don't mean much. You could probably say things like "Minnesota is 12-1-3 when the temperature is 32 degrees and below. It's 31 degrees. THEYLL WIN"
February 14th, 2014 at 9:19 PM ^
and the offense isn't looking much better on the other end. Not looking great so far but certainly not awful
