Michigan - Iowa Game Thread

Submitted by mGrowOld on

I've never done one of these before but it's about 20 minutes to kick-off and none of the usual suspects have stepped forward so I guess it's time.  I'm feeling good about this game and think Michigan wins 24-14.  Meanwhile, over on ESPN Sparty takes on the Cats at noon so we've got plenty of Michigan (the state of)  football to watch early.

Hate to say it but Iowa looks better than us.  We scored on one big play.  Not sure how much scoring we will do the rest of the game.  The D will again be asked to shut it down for us to have any chance to win....not sure on the chances of that happening.  Borges needs to make an...wait for it, wait for it, wait for it...ADJUSTMENT!

Stats seem to indicate we're pretty close.  At home I'd pick us to win, on the road I picked us to lose.  Which team is actually better?  We beat Minnesota  by a similar score and both needed OT to beat NW, and both lost to MSU by a similar score.  I continue to hope eventually we turn this corner and play up to our ability, which I fully believe is better than them. But the pessimist and lack of confidence in Borges tells me we will lose.

The last 2 drives looked way to easy by Iowa.  First play of the game they blitz and cause a pick 6.  Last two drives no pressure on the QB and Iowa goes right down the field.  Ughh!

I would like some pressure from the dline. I don't like the secondary either, but right now I have more dislike for the line.

Let's put some blame where deserved here on offense - Gardner has stunk to open the game. 2 bad passes and a terrible decision twice on the option plays - once to audible to it and then to not just cut up the field on the second one.
