Per @umichfootball.

We have entered an alternate universe, indeed.

I don't expect much more than Bando, but even position drills for 60 minutes would be good. Even if they do half of what they do in a real practice - as long as they do it with full intensity - then that is something that I would love to see. And I can't imagine that with people watching, the intensity will be low (unless it's all punting and stretching, I suppose).

Man, I'm still on vacation then, too. If I didn't have young kids I'd be flying or driving back for this.

Hoke is doing something that shows progress. This isn't the 80s, Fort Schembechler is over. Give people access, even if it is limited access.

*unless you win championships...then, if you want to close the gates and lock everything down, go for it.

So you screwed up the spring game for my bachelor party and just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber you go and do something like this....and totally redeem yourself!!

MLive: Michigan football to host free, public scrimmage at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 16

The scrimmage will be open to the public, and will be free to anyone wishing to attend.

"We're going to have an open scrimmage in the Big House, it'll be part practice but a lot of scrimmage (situations)," Hoke said. "It'll be 8 o'clock at night, to help us get ready for night games and I think it'll be good and healthy for our guys to get out and play in front of people.

"We're excited about that."

Michigan says full details -- as far as parking situations, etc -- are still being finalized, and full arrangements for the scrimmage will be released in the coming days.

Why are people concerned about parking prices ? I have never paid a single dollar to park. Sometimes I have to park 2 miles away but I can handle a 15 minute walk to save some money. Other than tailgating in not sure why others don't do that.

Seems very un-Michigan like but I mean that in good way. I hope they continue to try new things and start new traditions without ruffling folks feathers.

Aww yes, very exciting! Get a sneak peak of all the new guys before the year starts! Surprising that he's doing this but the fans and media will eat it up.

The scrimmage itself will probably be as dull as the spring games from 2001 to the RichRod years, with random things going on all over the field at the same time. However, it being at night sounds cool. So I think I'll go.

personally I can't see myself spending one of the last summer Saturday nights at this event. Michigan/college football consumes every Saturday for the next three months. I'd rather skip it and just hang out in downtown Ann Arbor. Besides, we are going to see plenty of scrimmages this year.

It's a chance to spend some time inside football's Valhalla watching athletes many of us have eagerly followed since their high school days at night, and all for free.

Plus I get the opportunity to run steps inside the stadium again.
