Michigan to hold OPEN scrimmage on 8/16, under the lights

Per @umichfootball.

We have entered an alternate universe, indeed.

Of course they've done a full scrimmage during fall practice, but the point is when the public is invited, everyone always expects these things to be full-blown scrimmages and they always just end up being pared down, bare-bones Fort Schembechler affairs.

Sure, it's cool it's a public event. But let's not kid ourselves, they're not going to show anything. I don't know why it's so controversial to point that out. Go, have a great time, but know what you're probably going to get. That's all.

Also, Movie Night for season ticket holders is the next day.

Sounds like they're planning a preseason weekend.

I guess Hoke also announced this at his press conference tonight.

Heiko is gone right? Do we have anyone covering these press conferences?

I really don't know much, but supposedly interviews are underway for this - I think this is something that the blog needs to know as our connectivity to the program is somewhat affect by the presence / absence of someone in this position. I don't know about any timeline for a hire, but I do know that people have been interviewed for Heiko's position.

On the one hand, it will be awesome to see the team, but I assume that this will be just a bunch of position drills which would get boring after about 5 minutes. I'll just listen to what those who attend say.

Well I'll be got-damned if that isn't an awesome idea.  Just when I thought Dave Brandon couldn't get any dumber, he went and totally redeemed himself!

LOLOLOL psych.  But it's still a pretty cool idea.
