Looked like a knee or groin. Hopefully he returns, but who knows. Hunwick in halfway through first period. Looks a bit shaky, but made a few decent stops. UM leads 2-0 at first intermission, though, on a goal by Langlais that trickled in and a nice shortie by Rust from Hagelin & Summers... M shorthanded for a minute and a half heading into the 2nd. George Lopez Live ads persist... ed: beaten to the punch... sorry about that.

Anybody have any word on the extent of his injury. Watching Hunwick get a shutout was fun and all, but I still don't want him playing goalie through the now mandatory CCHA tourney run.

Hunwick was awarded the number one star in the game and well worth it. He gained confidence as the game went on as did his team. Good effort by all. This was actually a good situation for Hunwick to play in. Home game against a terrible offensive team on a day when defense was to be emphasised. According to Al Randall post game, Red called out the defense and labeled them "soft." Looked like that defensive emphasis was elevated to an even higher level once SH was put in there. Of course 4 goals helps ease the pressure too.

dare i say that hunnwick was actually pretty spectacular. he had a few amazing glove saves that he seemingly snatched out of nowhere. i'm not quite as terrified about him as a backup

Honestly, this is one of the most enjoyable games I can remember at Yost in YEARS. Senior Night, maize jerseys were out, Hunwick playing out of his mind after what looks like a done-for-the-season injury for Hogan (looked an awful lot like a popped groin, and not a minor one at that), incredible passing, stifling defense, and a crowd that was ridiculously into it the entire game. I'll say this about Hunwick, too. For some reason, I watched him pretty closely in pregame warmups because he seemed to be taking more reps than usual (maybe I just don't pay as much attention as I should). Anyways, let me say, he did NOT look good. Yeah, it's warmups and it's not usual that a goalie actually tries to get in front of stuff like he would in a game... but... It was bad. And I thought to myself "geez, Hogan needs to stay healthy." So, yes, blame me. Luckily, though, Shawn came through tonight. That first glove save he made was absolutely SICK. The defense did a great job of minimizing pressure on him, but even at that, he made a lot of saves tonight I wouldn't expect a five-foot-nothing backup goalie with nothing under his belt but mop-up time to make. Fun to see the Domers losing their composure, too. We need to take it to 'em on Saturday. Absolute must-win.

I've decided to nickname Shawn Hunwick "Yoda" due to stature and his apparent ability last night to use his jedi powers to convince the other team that they don't want to shoot the puck on net.
