Is there a stream anywhere for this game?
spoiler alert: i linked this
Is there a stream anywhere for this game?
It's on Comcast, so there could be a chance a stream pops up. I haven't found one yet. Audio stream from Michigan athletic website though.
Michigan Student Radio Sports department is broadcasting live on ustream http://www.ustream.tv/channel/university-of-michigan-athletics the best biased radio you will find in the world of college hockey
Totally agree about wanting to kick their asses this year. I still can't believe that student body non-ironically refers to its school as "the Harvard of Ohio."
It's one of the public Ivies by the original definition, actually.
What the original definition? If it's anything other than "All Public Schools" I'm calling bullshit.
EDIT: Did some research to back up by call of bullshit, and it appears, like usual, I'm right. According to USN&WR, Miami is #37 in the list of public schools in the nation, tied with Auburn(!) and SUNY Binghampton, talk about academic reputation. Miami falls behind such schools as Colorado School of Mines, University of Delaware and every Big Ten school save Nebraska.
The funniest part, is that "The Harvard of Ohio" is the third highest ranked school...in Ohio.
And I have to tell you, Miami is considered to attract significantly better students than osu.
I see. I was unfamiliar with the term. I thought more went into it than "just one guy's opinion."
The fact that his list includes Miami and Vermont, but not any non-Michigan Big Ten schools gives it less credibility. Even if you say Miami is better than OSU, which, fine, no one thinks it's better than Madison, Penn State, U of I, etc.
Considering the number of schools in the US, that is not a terrible ranking. Also, before you go trashing some of those schools you listed, you may want to do some research. The colorado school of mines is actually a top ranked engineering university, despite the unfortunate and quite dated name.
It's not like Ohio State can claim that moniker.
Dollar Beers, Dollar Dogs!
Argh, turnover, but Racine made the save.
Guptill to the box, though.
Can't see video. What just happened? It doesn't sound good for us regardless.
Eat shit, Rico.
PPG, them. Racine knocked the net off, it was reviewed and called a goal.
New rule: goal can count if net is dislodged but still on moorings, if I understand correctly.
new rule is if the refs think the net was dislodged intentionally and the puck enters where the goal would have been. Basically to prevent goalies/defenders from just knocking the net off to stop a goal, though doesnt seem like that was the case maybe somebody watching had a view of what happened.
U-M will go on the PP - time to respond.
Another penalty on them, 2-man advantage for about a minute.
Damn, no joy.
New Children of Yost banner:
Fuck these refs. Same shit, new year.
It sounds like we are controlling things for the most part and just can't hit the net.
I don't know if I'd say we're controlling things. We had a big turnover at the blue line; Racine missed the puck behind the net on their PPG. Their backup goalie (starter went off, not sure why) has made some saves.
It's hard to tell sometimes with these U of M announcers. I'm doing this and studying and it sounded like they were getting excited frequently for a while there.
We did have a PP which became a 5-on-3 for a minute. We did a pretty good job of keeping it in the zone - IIRC last year we'd get on the PP and teams would send it back down the ice frequently. Ultimately, no goals.
that I have the game on TV. However, I have no sound except for a bit of crackling...
Treais!!! 1-1 now.
Glad he's getting off to a good start this season
PPG to boot.
D'oh, Sparks to the box.
Make-up call against Redhawks according to announcers. Now even-strength.
HA! Penalty on them, evened up.
Babcock is in the booth for a little bit for the Griffins game. Said he has enjoyed going to MIchigan for hockey games for something to do during the lockout.
mgoblue announcers said earlier in the 1st that some miami director (or something) was yelling at some CCHA officals behind them up in the booth. never heard of that happening before, seems very disrespectful at the least
Got here 25 minutes before puck drop no seats left except so far back that the upper deck cuts off some view, and even those seats were sparse. Fair amount of students in aisle. Thanks dave brandon. If i have to get here 40 minutes before puck drop to get a half-decent sea (NOT a good seat, just an average one)t, while large portions of the non-student section stand empty, i may not get season tickets again next year.
2-1!!!!!! Treias again!!!!
Damn, they score, tie game.
Damnit. 2-2. Short handed after Racine misplays the puck
Seems to me it's more on Treais.
I can't see it so I was just going by the radio announcers. They were saying both Miami goals were cheap due to errors by Racine.
Racine was behind and to the right of the net (if you're facing it), pressure coming, so instead of going up the boards, he went behind the net. Treais was on the other side of the net (not sure if Racine was aware), had the puck bounce bigtime off his stick towards the net, where they put it in as Racine was getting back.
2-2 after 2. Still on the PK for 37 sec.
Geez, Miami is ferocious. They just keep bringing it.
WTF?? Looked like a good hit to me.
He clearly didn't have possession and control, but his stick was touching the puck and he was in Trouba's way. Better to keep control of the game, but not an especially strong call there, IMO.
Gongshow in full force.
Can't wait for 2013-2014 and the Gongshow will be dead and buried.
At least they didn't score.
Racine may make errors, but he's also made some big saves.
GOAL!!!!!!!!!! 3-2 M!!!!
Thank you Mr. Chiasson, but I would still enjoy more goals.
This. I like.
Just logged in to catch the score; your stream link got me on just in time for UM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL.
EDIT2.0: #4 for Alex! GO BLUE
GOAL!! 4-2 M!!
7 minutes left.
And Guptill punches the Miami winger on the Tiger Woods celebration, I love it.
Fuck the dynasty. Really needed this one to start our CCHA season off to a good start. Let's hold on!!!
Does Czarnik (sp) have AFLAC or a death wish?
Dang, Treais robbed of a hat trick.
Is it me, or does Enrico resemble Urban? Hate them both, so maybe that's all it is
I think the power play is the best I've seen it over the past 4 years. So much possession and pressure. Trouba has a rocket loaded on the blue line.
Beat them again tomorrow !!!
Big win. Let's go for the sweep tomorrow night!!
4 - 2
Wonder why Comcast doesn't have tomorrow night's game. Because of football, they don't think it's worth it? I'd record it, if it were on.
Michigan Hockey is the only time that network gets viewers. All of their other programming is local crap that is low budget-sports talk replays from 2004.
They know that Michigan Football is priority #1 here.
So honestly? I didn't think we played that great and we still beat a good team. I'm optimistic.
Thought Racine looked good on pucks he was in the net for, if he can get the puck handling figured out, maybe he's the long term solution.
Trouba is the real deal. A couple freshman mistakes, but that kid is super talented.
They blanked Army 5-0 tonight. Not that that is a measure of greatness, but I figured coming up from the ACHA they'd be absolute doormats. The fact that they appear to be the equivalent of a decent AHA team means they may be able to compete in the B1G way early than I thought
Wait until Michigan plays them. Calling it right now, Michigan will put up double digit goals.
I agree, but at the same time the B1G only has 6 teams. Two of which are perennial powers in Minnesota and Michigan. OSU and Wisconsin are solid as well. MSU isn't good right now, but Anastos isn't quite the train wreck some thought he'd be.
Yeah, by compete I didn't necessarily mean like...finish in the top half of the conference. I meant like actually winning conference games. I expected PSU to go like 0-20 in conference play their first few years but if they're approximately like a mid-level AHA team they might be able to sneak out 5 or so conference wins which is much better than I think most would expect
It's army who they beat. My high school team could blank army 7-0. Wait till PSU plays someone with a pulse.
Great win over an overrated miami team. Hate those bastards, and it's fun to watch their whiny tool of a coach cry the entire time like he is so good at doing.
Can't listen to tomorrows game because of a certain football game on at the same time, but I'll be there in spirit. Apparently Rutledge is getting the start tomorrow per Red on the intermission interview.
Go Blue and Get the sweep!
Just left a charity event, missed everything. Let's get the sweep tomorrow.
arguably Michigan's best player is still in the press box with a fractured vertebrae. This team has every chance to be scary good this season when Merrill comes back. They still have a few things to work out, they need to not have the bad period they've had in every game I've seen so far this year and one/both of the goalies need to get comfortable. But the PP seems to be getting fairly dangerous again, the PK looks like it's still going at a high level, the offense is far more potent that I expected and more, the offense is "clutch" and AJ might even be becoming the go-to scorer they haven't really had since at least Louie Caporusso his sophomore year. They really need to cut down on the goals allowed, but I think they will and I'm reall excited to see how far this team can go.
Read my postgame thoughts here:
scored an unassisted goal for the USNTDPQJP against Minnesota in their 2-2 draw.
how long has there been no touch icing in college hockey?
it's a judgement call on the linesman's part. From the rulebook (Section 27 (g)):
Judgement of first player to touch puck. For the purpose of interpretation of this rule, icing is completed the instant the puck crosses the goal line, unless an attacking player, who is onside at the blue line and with no opponent between that player and the goal line and is clearly in position to be the first player to touch the puck. Icing shall not be called in this situation. This decision by the official shall be made no later than the first player reaching the end zone face-off dots. If the puck enters the goal in this situation icing shall not be called and a goal shall be awarded.
