It was a difficult two games to watch last weekend. Michigan hockey lost two straight to Nebraska Omaha and those losses hurt more than you realize. In the NCAA college hockey rankings it dropped us out completely, took us from fourth in the CCHA to seventh and has most likely forced us into a situation where winning the CCHA tournament might be the only way of getting into the NCAA tournament. So what do we do now? Northern Michigan comes to Yost this Friday night and for Michigan a beatdown on NM would really help us jump back up. Northern is currently fifth in the CCHA and 20th in the NCAA. If we can knock out Northern in a sweep then we'll jump back up in the standings in both catagories and even fight towards the end of the season for a fourth or third seed going into the playoffs. These next two games are crucial and Michigan can NOT pass these games up. Big name players are going to have to really step up though including Caporusso, Hagelin, Brown, Rust etc. More goals always equals more wins and Michigan needs to score early and often to beat NM. These two games are home at Yost so I expect both games to be wins. In my opinion a loss to this team at home is unacceptable and Red needs to make this point clear. 4 games left on the schedule, 4 potential wins and 10 points are on the line. It's crunch time.
FWIW. Michigan doesn't seem inclined to get re-involved.
