Michigan Hockey: National Championship Game Open Thread

Submitted by MichFan1997 on

Starting us off early today. Shut the fuck up about math problems people. We're playing in a CHAMPIONSHIP game today. The only math I'm worried about is if the sum of Michigan's goal total is greater than the sum of Minnesota-Duluth's goal total.

We're the better team.  Plus Hunwick turns 24 today.

Edit:  OF COURSE they interview a UMD player during the intermission.  Fuck this announcing crew.

this kind of thing happens way too often.  i really don't understand why the refs don't wait that extra second to be sure the puck is covered.  there's not a damn thing lost by waiting a bit longer to be sure.  we got screwed all the time with this BS.

From the casual observer, we seem to have a different game plan tonight.  Against NoDa it seemed we were hitting and attacking more until we got our first goal.  Then we played 4 deep and barely sent the 5th guy to the puck.

Tonight it seems to me that we're not going to try and sit on a 1-0 lead.

1. if you have the talent edge, i think you should keep attacking.  maybe dial-it down if we go up 2 or as the game gets short.

2. if we don't have the talent edge, i would sit on the lead, kinda like they do in soccer.  do what you can to shorten the game.

i think this philosophy works in many sports.

Ref had to have determined that he felt the play was dead before he blew the whistle. Question I have then is why the review? Seems to me that if you felt the play was dead, it would be dead. How would the review affect what you felt in your head? Not like they could gain any else from the replay, because it showed the puck was in before the whistle.

Why does Canadian TV insist on showing every hockey game except the one I want to watch?  (ESPN3 doesn't work here). Streaming online is not the ideal way to watch hockey.

Leafs TV will show the game... at 10 pm.  I can't wait that long.

1. It was clearly in before the whistle blew. Screw "intent to blow"

butttt.

2. The goalie honestly had it covered for like 3 seconds, and the whistle should have gone earlier.

no matter what Fuckrose thinks.  UMD also leads in PPlays 2-1.  I wouldn't be surprised if they have a four PP advantage like ND did before the end of the game.

I'm drinking Centennial IPA from Founders, which I bought at the brewery this afternoon after enjoying two pints in the taproom (Red's Rye and Rye Stout).

Go BLUE!!!
