Michigan Hockey - First-ever Overtime Shootout

Submitted by UMichinCA on

Down 3-2, Michigan scored with just over 2 minutes to go in regulation to tie the game. Overtime went scoreless, but UM was the aggressor. Shootout...

I've had just about all I can stand of Tristin Llewellyn. He takes penalties like they're cough drops.

Not don't get me wrong, they screwed up plenty tonight, but we only needed a comeback because yet again Llewellyn found his way to the box while we were already down one man.

This school year needs to be over. The football team squanders a 4-0 start, the basketball team falls flat on its face, and the hockey team decides 19 years in a row is enough. 18 years I worked to get myself into Michigan and this is my reward for it...

Ok, since you didn't actually see the play (you didn't, or you wouldn't be complaining), the 5-on-3 penalty against Llewellyn was absolute horseshit. There was a reason that the student section near the call was up in arms, because it was not a penalty in any way. He was absolutely robbed. The first two minutes he spent in the box earlier in the game was even a pretty crap call, but it had some merit at the very least. I'm much more pissed at Lebler for being retarded, and for Langlais for contributing exactly nothing (except turnovers) up until that awesome slapshot.

Llewellyn is in the top 3 defensemen on the team (the other two being Summers and Burlon, and he's probably better than Burlon), and will be by far the best next season.

On the other hand, I've had just about all I can stand of Brian Hogan. He is one of the worst starting goalies in the NCAA. As much as I applaud his efforts, and as much as he makes ridiculous awesome saves when he has no business making saves, he gives up the softest shit goals at the worst times. Two of the goals he gave up out of three were piss poor positioning, and the shootout he just outright got beat and managed to fall over in the process.

You cannot blame Bryan for the shootout goal. That dude went Pavel Datsuyk on him! One blade, dangle the puck, cross over to the backhand and flip it up over his pad. Beautiful. I don't care what you say, that was an A+ effort on the part of the Alaska player.

Not that Hogie hasn't given up his fair share of weak goals...like you said, the 2 PP goals were both poor plays on his part. But again, it was Lebler and Llewelyn that put them in that situation in the first place.

this is by far the most ridiculous statement I've seen on this site. and that's saying something.
