Michigan Hockey @ #7 Lowell Game Thread
Well WolverineDevotee has sworn off mgoblogging and I haven't seen CenterIce much this year. Perhaps this will be me talking to myself...
#14 Michigan (1-2-0) at #7 UMass-Lowell (2-0-1).
Michigan should probably be happy with a split this weekend (also @ #12 BU). Lets see how this goes. JT Compher is playing tonight FWIW (he was in doubt).

Start of the third
October 24th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
Wild game so far, wouldn't rule out Lowell making a run this period

After two periods, Boston University - 1, Michigan State - 0. BU has had 31 shots to Sparty's 15. Looks like MSU goalie Jake Hildebrand is having himself an impressive night.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
man, you can't recover more quickly than that!
Now we don't have to hold that 2-goal lead!
October 24th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
FYI it's actually Dancs
October 24th, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
you're right - and now I can't edit it! :)
October 24th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
Great quick response.
But plz stop giving up goals.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:02 PM ^
"Back to a 3-goal bulge." LOL
October 24th, 2014 at 9:03 PM ^

Let the offensive thrush continue tomorrow in E.L. please...
October 24th, 2014 at 9:03 PM ^
You can tell how crushing that goal was. Its silent in there now

MTU is 2-0 and winning, that doesn't seem like a big achievement but it's been two years since Michigan Tech had a winning record at any point during a season.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:14 PM ^
Mel Pearson is doing serious work in Houghton these days.....great to see too. NCAA Hockey is better overall with teams like Tech and Lake Superior State are programs to be messed with
October 24th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^
Go Crusaders! Go Purple Eagles! (I think?)
October 24th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^
Yes, Niagara Purple Eagles
October 24th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^
Very strange to see the fall from power Miami's had lately. And it's not a fall like Michigan's had - Miami was just bad last year and it looks like they may be again this year. Very un-Rico of them

Hyman shoots and it didn't hit the back of the net?
Is that goal regulation size, or what!??!???!
October 24th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^
GOAL!!!!! 8-4
October 24th, 2014 at 9:09 PM ^

October 24th, 2014 at 9:10 PM ^

October 24th, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
I want to see Hyman get the Texas Hat Trick
IIRC the last Michigan player with a 4-goal game was Kolarik back in 08(?). People at Yost had no more hats to throw

Does Red stick with Racine for tomorrow night or does he go back to Nagelvoort?
October 24th, 2014 at 9:13 PM ^
I see him putting 'Voort back in
October 24th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
because buried underneath the fun of the 8-goal explosion is Racine giving up 4 - apparently at least one of them a soft one. Whether it's the D or Racine, you can't keep giving up so many goals. So far it's been
4, 5, 1, 4
You can't expect the team to score 5 goals a night. Racine and Nagelvoort are both solid goalies, so I'm guessing this is a defense issue (coming from someone whos only heard games on the radio this year)
October 24th, 2014 at 9:16 PM ^
However, based off (like you who has only listened to games on the radio) this season so far....if we were in a "do or die take years off my life single elimination" game, I would go with Racine as my starter
October 24th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
He didn't practice most of last week with an injury, Racine will probably start.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:18 PM ^
that Racine might be taking back the #1 spot? or is this just Nagelvoort being hurt and not taking chances this early in the season?
October 24th, 2014 at 9:21 PM ^
Berenson will play a hot goalie so anything is possible, but unless either is just not playing well you should see both.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:15 PM ^
Michigan has scored more goals this game (8) than they had the rest of the season (6)
October 24th, 2014 at 9:20 PM ^
Larkin and Hyman were credited with assists on that goal. Five point night and plus 4 so far for Zach Hyman. Dylan Larkin's got a goal, three assists and a plus 3 on the night so far.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
What are the odds the hockey team outscores the football team?
October 24th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
which is a strange lull considering how this game has been so far
October 24th, 2014 at 9:26 PM ^
October 24th, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
This one is all but done
