Michigan hockey #11 in first USCHO poll

Submitted by Adam Schnepp on

USCHO released their first poll of the season and the rankings are very similar to USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine's preseason poll. USCHO has three B1G teams in the top 11, with Wisconsin at #3 and Minnesota at #5 (which is the same as the USA Today poll). Michigan at #11 is just one spot below where they are in the USA Today poll.

Based on where they're ranked across the two polls I'd say that the consensus is that Michigan is talented and could perform as most followers of Michigan hockey expect them to, but the number of freshmen who will play big minutes and the lack of depth on the blueline is reason to pause.

but Umass-Lowell is the Florida State of college hockey. They made the frozen four last year, but aside from that they've gotten hyped up every year since I started following college hockey only to fall on their face year after year

Looks like they have won their conference 4 times, conference tournament twice, and gone to 2 Frozen Fours since those back to back championships 10 years ago.  I wouldn't say they "haven't done anything".  Actually, those accomplishments are very comparable to Michigan's in the past decade.
