I think if I was a coach I would tell my players never to hurdle anyone. It seems like 90 percent of the time they get tackled as soon as they hit the ground and only end up gaining about 3 more yards. If they took a good line to the sideline they'd probably get at least 10, and not risk getting flipped onto their head. It's not really a very practically useful move.

Scout has him as a 2 star WR/DB despite being an ideal 6'2, 180. This is probably because of his listed 40 time as a 4.67 (that's a lot slower than he looks!) and he seems to play QB quite a lot, which would make him a very raw receiving talent.
EDIT - I should add that if the coaches are looking at him for WR instead of ATH, then that does not signal good things because we need at least 1 all around package at wideout or 1 speedster, and he does not look to be a shitfy playmaker from that film.
Did you blink during the kick-off return with something like 8 broken tackles?
What about all the open-field yardage he picked up on scrambles and receptions?
The only legit knock on him is that he's raw. He has all the tools to be a very, very special player here.

Darren Carrington Jr. is an electrifying 6-3 receiver recruit out of San Diego. His father is former NFL safety Darren Carrington Sr., After football Darren Carrington Sr. became a minister, he preaches at Paradise Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church in San Diego, and helps out many local charitable organizations.
Until his recent MVP showing at NTFC-Oakland, he was a relatively under-the-radar recruit. He has natural athletic and playmaking ability, which will carry over to the next level. He has soft hands, he's elusive, strong enough to break tackles, and (if he commits to Michigan) might be the next to wear the #1 jersey. Plainly put, Darrell Jr. has the kind of playmaker ability that the Wolverines need in order to win a national championship.
The linked article above states that he's interested in visiting Michigan for the high school camp, or visiting (on his own dime) someother time this summer. Let's hope he follows through.
We're likely going to be the first elite program to offer Carrington in the next few days. It's early, but there's plenty of reason for cautious optimism if he visits.

I agree, some of the highlights look very good. But there are some that don't look so good too (for example one in the middle where he does a 7 yard post and cannot shake the corner). It's fine to be excited about each recruit, but you can't admit that he's on the same level as Treadwell... especially since he's from California, which isn't a relatively unrecruited state. I don't know why you're being so defensive about him!
Why defensive? Because this is a smart, talented, and high-character football player-- what we expect of players in our program.

Ball was underthrown @ 1:16, had to slow down, and completely look it in, which gave the defender time to catch up, and tackle.
He was the blocker @ 1:50...

It seems like you're over-relying on recruiting services for rankings, and really reaching to justify their reasoning (your Treadwell and California comments gave that away). Look, the services simply missed this guy on the first go-round. It happens. Don't fret, this Carrington is going to be a 4-star on 247's next update according to Barton (just like Treadwell).

If it's not Hurst, Treadwell makes the most sense assuming what Dawson is hearing is true. I sometimes take these reports with a grain of salt because recruits are sometimes overly optimistic about other players (for example, Josh Garnett last year and Ty Isaac).

If it was Hurst, I doubt he would spill the beans and confirm it over twitter.
I still think it is Hurst given all the other information out there about how he may be ready to commit on his visit in June.
