Michigan grad could win $1mil by betting MSU
Surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but here's the ESPN story...

So the story goes that in early December after MSU had just run their record to 5-3 Michigan grad, Derek Stevens, strolls into the Golden Nugget and throws down a bet on MSU to win it all. Obviously, with Izzo taking his team to the Final Four, the bet looks great now. But as a Michigan grad, I was surprised to see him throw down so much on MSU.
Would definitely be crazy to see him take Vegas for a cool million.
Or a fan of anyone else in the AFC East, there would be a problem with watching the Pats win. If Brady QB'd in the NFC North outside of Detroit, I would at least be conflicted about his team winning a bunch of SBs.
No chance
Good luck to him, I guess - if I won that bet, I'd use a big part of the money to further troll MSU in some way.
But looking at their draw, I'm doubting this is going to pay off for him.
I'm not sure how to finish that thought, as I'd never put down $20k on a bet.
That's an awesome receipt though: "This ticket is worth more than the cars of five average college students."

...by picking State to go to the final four. I didn't root for them, but for the TV. And I feel no regrets about it. I've made plenty of money betting on our rivals to win or lose just because I knew how favorable or unfavorable their matchups were. I don't see the harm in profitting on the fortune or misfortune of these teams.
