Michigan getting crazy creative with recruits

Submitted by Shakey Jake on

Here's what Michigan sent to Keisean Lucier-South as a recruiting pitch. Pretty cool.

But if there weren't subs involved, how could it be 'crazy'?

P.S. Might want to check your grammar.

P.S.S.  And does this type of recruiting really work?  I wish someone would ask these young adults.  Between kids writing letters, 'last puzzle piece', etc. does it really affect them?

Yeah, a big part of it is to make the recruits feel like they're a top priority.  If a staff becomes less consistent about contacting the player, he'll assume they aren't interested.  A goofy picture like this takes more work than sending out a form letter, so it should be appreciated.

I find it interesting that they sort of took an almost corporate approach by putting "core values" on each of these - "Committment", "Accountability", "Respect" and "Trust", in this case. I think they've been discussed in articles as being just that, but it is interesting to see them on the recruiting material as well. You would have to think that it is a nice way to hit home, especially if the kid you are recruiting appreciates those things as well.

Yuck.  I mean if we're actually going to do these things let's at least TRY and be creative and clever and not just something forgettable so we can say we tried.

Hoke as a Time Lord sign me up!  Lazy part of me says they used a Houston Oiler jersey because that's the stock photo they had.  The inner-lawyer of me says it might have to do something with not being able to use a current team jersey due to infringement/copyright/etc
