Michigan football text alerts?

Submitted by preed1 on

I do not know if they already have this, but how great would it be if you got txt alerts for every score for all Michigan football game scores live.  I know the tigers already have this kind of feature and it is free (for those with unlimited txts).  This is the first year that I may have to work saturdays, and is a great idea for those who also are unable to watch games.

DVR.  I have the same problem with having to work some saturdays.  DVR is a lifesaver.  If you can afford it, I highly recommend it.  Also, threaten to beat to death anyone who is going to tell you the score before you can get home to watch the game.

but you can subscribe free to the Michigan Athletics text alert (I do), which will notify you of all upcoming games for the major sports, and follow up with the results shortly after the game, as well as occasional news, quizzes and other tidbits.

Yesterday, it notified me that I could go check out the stadium.

ESPN has mobile alerts. You can select to have updates sent after scores, quarters, or just the final score if you choose.  I used to have them send texts for the scores of Michigan football games and Final Scores of bowl games. They do this for other sports too.

http://www.mgoblue.com/att/ is what Blazefire was talking about.

You can also ask for text alerts from espn.com.  When you go to ESPN's main page towards the top right corner there is a myespn drop box.  Then when that drop down box shows up click on member services which is in the top left and then there is an option for text alerts.  Set it up for Michigan football and you have the option to get alerts after every score, quarter, half or game.  It works really well.

Hope this helps

Edit: joeyb beat me to it but anyway here is how you get the text alerts

If anyone has an iphone buy sling box and watch it over your phone or laptop the quality is great. Also Mazeandbluenation is right DVR is awesome and i'd be pissed if someone were to send me the score before I watched it.

I do this frequently if I'm not around a TV (was best man in a wedding last year during Michigan's opening game, the groom was obviously a Spartan).  If you send GOOGLE (466453) a text stating NCAAF Wolverines  (or Michigan Wolverines) it will send you a reply text with the score.  This works for professional sports as well by texting SCORE Tigers (for example).
