Michigan football game tradition proposal
Atalanta Braves do something similar for the word "brave".
What are everyone's thoughts on this? Defamation of our national anthem? Could it catch on? Stupid idea?
...in FB, BB, and Hockey games.

This has been going on for a long time in the student section already. I know a good number of Maize Ragers do it too, and even have hats referencing it.
For how long? I don't remember it at all when I was there and I'm not that old lol

I've been doing this since like my sophomore year (08) and I know the Dallas Star's do the same thing on Star.
I was a student in 2008, never heard it
Now, my season tickets are in section 40, which isn't too far from the student section, still never heard it.
I already do that.
Kickoff should be-
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for the kickoff lineup and run and then BLUE when the ball is kicked off.
I hate it, the Anthem is for honoring America, not Michigan (or really, any other entity) but it's nowhere near as bad as North Dakota's version.
is a poor imitation of what they used to do at the old Chicago Stadium. It was authentic, spontaneous and to the heart. Now its just a bunch of people who overpaid for tickets trying to do something that they saw their parents do, feels plastic and contrived like that stupid song they play after goals.
I think we should all 'Go Brady', i.e. short sleeves, for the entire fourth quarter of all home games regardless of weather.. I kicked off the tradition this year for Iowa; it was freezing at the end of the game but I BELIEVE!

In my opinion traditions happen on their own.... they just take shape within the atmosphere of whatever group. They don't get concocted by anyone.... especially not marketing think tanks. I'm looking at you DB.
With that said, I could definitly understand the argument that a grassroots type movement by the fans to create a tradition would be legitimate.

If by "done by the team," you mean "done by the team at Adidas, who then tells us what we're going to wear," right?
The fact that so many people are buying the corporate synergy-speak coming out of 1000SSS these days hook, line, and sinker seems to pretty much prove DB is even better than this than we thought he was. He's pretty much convinced the fanbase that Michigan spent over a century building a rabid fanbase of kids and adults alike out of sheer dumb luck. (How did we ever do that without a mascot and bumblebee unis?)
Now it's his time to reinvent the wheel, I guess.
But that's just me.....
Baltimore fans do this (rather impressively for the crowd sizes of games I've been at I might add) during the "O" of the anthem at O's games. They just love the anthem down there in general though. Been doing huge celebrations the last two years for the War of 1812 and anniversary of Key writing the anthem
A tradition I've always wanted to start--though entirely impractical--is for every Michigan fan in the stadium to pay attention, turn away, and go dead silent for thirty seconds when the opposition enters the field before kickoff. I guarantee a mass of 110,000 expressing apathy in unison is way more memorable than a smattering of ineffectual boos that anyone can hear anywhere.
"New tradition" is an oxymoron and something that should be left to the FIUs of the world.
and I'd kind of have to agree. Lots of chances to say hail during Michigan games, we should probably show some respect for the national anthem
