Michigan Field Hockey installs BLUE turf

Love it! Can't wait to be there for the re-opening of Ocker Field on 9/6.

Not a fan of any color turf.  It's just too fake and distracting. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'd much prefer having a real grass field.  And if for reasons that can't be (poor drainage, muddy, etc.), then I'll accept turf but keep it green.

Now kids, get off my *real grass* lawn!  /steps off porch.

I watched a little of the SH-Directional Washington game and had to change the channel because that red turf hurt my eyes. I'm with you on having real grass. I just don't want it to be 4 inches high like ND did to try to slow down Denard.

Prefer grass, for sure, but I have to say that from a maintenance perspective, this new generation of artificial turf is really impressive.  Other than the annoying rubber pellets, it drains so well and can be made so it's not hard like the old astroturf (basically a carpet on top of cement) - a bit more "rebound" like a rubber track, although it's still not pleasant to crash on.

I'm interested in the grass-turf hybrid in use at Mile High and Lambeau.  Looks very interesting.

a field.

Oh wait, a woman's sport is trying to generate some interest and do something cool, why the hell not? If the team likes it and helps them recruit, more power to them.

makes it almost look like this is a blue cloth pulled over a grey pad - doesn't seem like it is field turf.  Checking mgoblue.com:

Ocker Field also received a new playing surface in 2014 with the installation of a blue AstroTurf 12 synthetic turf system. Called a "Global" system, AstroTurf 12 is a knitted nylon system designed to provide uniform traction and consistent footing. It improves playability when it is wet and absorbs water to maintain wet conditions longer. It is the most widely accepted and desired surface for field hockey in the world.
