Michigan favored by 14 over Purdue

Not sure what to think about this game.  Purdue looked great against Illinois but other than 2 years ago, Purdue hadnt won in Ann Arbor in a gazillion years.  A month ago, I thought Purdue was similar to Minnesota but now they actually seem mediocre.

a) do we have bye-week blues? Could make for a closer-than-expected game.

b) has the team recovered from MSU, and is it ready to fight its way through the rest of the season?

Don't think we really know. But my money's always on Denard to spring forward and not fall back.

I believe MSU is crazy-good this year, notwithstanding Beilima's (intentionally not spelled correctly b/c the jerk doesn't deserve respect) nonsensical record of losing every second road game for 6 years running.

But nonetheless, based on how we got manhandled in EL, I am fearing that we aren't really that much better than last year.  And it seems that, as much as a tool as Danny Boy (NT Danny Boy) (well if you live in the Wash DC area, "Not That Danny Boy" makes sense) is, his team seems to be playing pretty good -- the PSU and U of I performances prove it.

I think we are in for a nail-biter.  I think it's low scoring, winner will have high teens or low 20s, and it's going to be decided by someone who makes a glaring huge mistake when it counts -- pick, fumble, ST, missed assignment, blown coverage, etc.

Toss-up.  I'm shocked at the 14 point line.

Knowing who their coach is, if Purdue wants to go another 40+ years without winning at the big house, I'm completely fine with that.  Since squeezing out a 1 point win in 1966 they did the following at Michigan Stadium....

1969: Lost 31-20

1972: Lost 9-6 (With Gary Danielson)

1974: Lost 51-0

1975: Lost 28-0

1978: Lost 24-6 (With Mark Herrman)

1980: Lost 26-0 (With Mark Herrman)

1982: Lost 52-21

1983: Lost 42-10

1985: Lost 47-0

1989: Lost 42-27

1991: Lost 42-0

1993: Lost 25-10

1995: Lost 5-0

1999: Lost 38-12 (With Drew Brees)

2001: Lost 24-10

2003: Lost 31-3 (With Kyle Orton)

2007: Lost 48-21

2009: Won 38-36

Time to start another long streak beginning for them this Saturday.

it worked out cool because it led to the post of all the scores.  I said gazillion because I thought it went back to the 60's and it did.  Pretty crazy to think that they lost every game in AA after 66 unitl 2009.  Now we lost at least 4x at Purdue in the stretch (77?, 96, 02?, 08)

I think we'll look back at this Illinois - Purdue game and see an overrated Illini team starting to fall apart under horrible coaching.  As for Purdue, they did wax Minny at least as much as UM did, so they definitely can play well.  The difference is that UM has the game at home and they will be looking for blodd after that MSU game.  I don't know how the final score will look, but UM should win this game.
