badkitty, we picked patronicity as the crowdfunding platform because it is Michigan based and founded by michigan alums. i see where you are coming from though about being on a platform that is nationally recognized, but I think the ties to Michigan make this an even better fit. And they are totally legit and  technically secure. they have been formally approved as a crowdfunding platform for official business with the state of michigan. take a look and let me know your thoughts. thanks

I mistakenly posted this the other day linking it from the hated Gregg Henson and my thread was deleted shortly after I posted it. I think this is great, but there needs to be some bigger donations or more people need to get involved

We all have contributed to the Jim Harbaugh salary.  It's called ticket prices.  Does anyone really think we won't open the checkbook to get Harbaugh? Salary is the lowest hurdle we have in getting him.  His trophy No-Cal wife and Jim's ego are what will stop him from (a) leaving the bay area and (b) leaving the NFL to return to college without a superbowl ring, respectively.

Me thinks you missed the point ... Donations of $1mil given to charity if Harbaugh is hired. It doesn't supplement the guy's salary. The idea is to show support for him ... All the donations with getting him here. Not paying him to come here.

Some of you are confusing how this works. First off, its not a kickstarter because they are not trying to actually generate money to attract Harbaugh. They are doing this to raise money for charity. He is not getting the donated money. They money raised would go to a charity of choice. If he does not come, you are not charged.

hey guys, I'm Ali. the guy who launched the hire harbaugh crowdfunding campaign.

i'm an '06 grad. '01 grad of Ypsi High. pitched for michigan. son of Faz from Hello Faz Pizza. and watcher of every snap of every season since desmond's catch against ND.

i launched this campaign with patronicity with one goal. to send a gigantic message to Jim Harbaugh. a message that says THIS is the job for him.

if we were the first fanbase to do this, and we pledged a TON of money to ANY charity Jim wants, I think that could really make him think twice.

let me know what you think!  spread the word if you like it! i think we have potential to make some history!

go blue.

Actually, that's the best case scenario, because they won't charge your credit card if Harbaugh doesn't take the job. If your money makes it to the charity of Harbaugh's choice, it means that Michigan has hired Harbaugh, in which case there will be much rejoicing.

Pretty simple and will hopefully be used for a good cause.  Although Jim can wipe his *** with the money for all I care.  Just come to Michigan.

Not a terrible idea, but it feels like a shameless promotion plug for the website.  Would get more money if you went with a reputable crowd-funding source.  Many people, myself included, are hesitant to give out a cc number to a site I've never heard of.

I know both of these guys. Great people, great idea.

A key detail that is strangely omitted from the WXYZ story is that the money will go to the charity of Harbaugh's choice if he decides to take the job. This isn't going to Harbaugh's salary. Also, they have their own domain name: http://www.hireharbaugh.com.
