Michigan Embarrassing Ticket Giveaway

Submitted by 814 East U on

This HAS to be rock bottom...at least I hope. Received this picture from a relative who is a student.

Sorry to all those MGoUsers who claimed 100% fake...because I just picked up 2 100% real tickets to Minny.

More proof...

Going out on a limb here and suggesting that this is fake....There's no way that anyone, even the current athletic department would stoop this low. I know that you will all laugh at that, but come on. They could boost their image by giving tickets away to church groups or kids in low income schools. They have zero incentive to do this. Coke has zero incentive to agree to this partnership. Pretty good odds that this is a bit of trolling from the internet.

With that said, I am a student and will look for it on campus over the next few days...

This is correct.  Not only is it economically infeasible to undercut four or five days of ticket sales by this "promotion," when tickets on the Athletic Department's website are selling for $70, but contextual clues from the picture suggest this is a joke: (1) the picture appears to be taken on counter at a random party store; (2) a party store would not pull off something like this, as it may be restricted from doing so under any number of theories, which brings me to (3) the advert, likely created with a color printer in Columbus, does not identify who, exactly, is sponsoring this promotion.  If Coke was doing it, that would be explicit.

If DB would allow me to bring in a water bottle, so I could watch the game without inconvenience, I may attend.

This is as bad or worse than it was for App St or MIami,Oh. This is the freaking B1G opener, Brown Jug game - just wow.

As bad as the season has gone I fully expect UM tp win because, well, Minnesota is even worse.

If the unimaginable happens one may actually get a free ticket for one coke.

Anyone know what tickets are going for the Slippery Rock game? Who coaches them? I'm kidding!!

Where did this ad come from and has anyone else seen it? Usually when discounts occur, there is a blizzard of e-mails to seaon ticket holders and alumni. With the ongoing disaster I'm not calling shenanigans but it is odd to have this out so fast - Wednesday or Thursday sure, but this seems really fast.

If it is a legitimate athletic department partnered give away then it shows it is world war Z level of panic in the bunker.

I hope it is a prank!

You might be right, young man.  I didn't want to believe it, but I'm glad you're not just making this up.   it doesn't make you any nicer of a person, judging by your posts, but I'll certainly concede your correctness, and I'm looking at the two great kids I've raised with renewed thankfulness.

My parents taught me to have some trust in people, which I hope you teach your kids (unlike your parents). You clearly just jumped to conclusions. I understand waiting for proof so maybe you didn't buy it but I believe you said "this is so fake" with some certainty.

He was trusting of a good friend (or relative, I don't care to re-look).  If you can't trust relatives and good friends, you must live a sad life.

I hope you are never a juror. You formed your decision before proof? That just seems...dumb. All I did was provide the information I had (from a source I trusted).

Classy,

The guy broke a story on the blog, told the truth.  You wrongly accused him of lying.  And when's it's proven he was telling the truth, you don't apologize and continue to attack him.
