Having strong, consistent moderation is incredibly important for PR on a website as it gets bigger. I think the moderation on this site is very good, although there's obviously a ton of sexism and the homophobia gets really bad whenever a player comes out of the closet.

That said, having very little moderation can lead to some extreme examples like Reddit which has large hate-group communities (Stormfront, Mens Rights Activists, Red Pill). They also have the issue of being a pedophile haven where the trade child porn. It got so bad that the media got involved and the admins finally had to step in. I guess what I'm saying is: I'm happy the moderation here is as good as it is.

I'm not pining for more or less moderation. Te point is that its a valid perception that this stuff comes from this site. Some of that is because it is very popular. Some of it is because this site breeds this stuff by its posts. Regardless, I don't hear Brian or anyone of the official writers here in opposition, and how could they after promoting a boycott of the Maryland game? To me both the psu proposed boycott and Maryland are childish and sound like a little kid packing up his toys and going home to play because he didnt get his way. Reasonable minds obviously differ. I think they are in the vast minority when compared to most students and alumni.

The phrase is "started last week by MGoBlog.com, select Michigan fans are..."

The second half of that phrase is absolutely fine; the first half is absolutely poor journalism--or at least poor writing.

"By" is the crucial word there. It implies intentionality on the part of the blog, which in this context means "the proprietor(s) of the blog." Which means, in large part, Brian. Which is incorrect. Brian did NOT start a movement to boycott the Penn State game. (unless I missed something)

I would be inclined to assume it's the product of sloppy writing rather than willful misattribution. But still, it's simply not true. And it's not splitting hairs to note the error.

It's attributed to the blog because someone who passed the points threshold for posting posted it on the blog. They didn't screw up.

"During the past two Under the Lights events"

From the Daily article.  This is more annoying to me.  The whole "Under the Lights" branding.  The whole thing smells of "wow factor" and "spectacle" and you know who.  Can't we just call it what it is: a night game.  Are we going to have a UTL XXIV ?  How pompous and pretentious is that when schools have been having night games since forever?

When you look at the three UM OLmen only one, Kalis, without a man to block at the first level is in proper position.  The other two have lost the battle of "low man wins" but with Rutgers I can't image tossing an undersized opponent to the ground is that difficult.

Don't know the background on the other two, but like Cole, Kalis comes from a strong h.s. program and may have already developed the three areas of flexibility needed for sound OL play. No. 1, of course being the waist. Can he set?(not speaking to the NE guard; now that was some funny shit) No 2, thighs and knees and no. 3, but no less important, ankles. Has nothing to do with the post but I just thought it funny that a photo with no intentions to do so pointed out why our OL seems to struggle mightily. It's not as if they can't do it or they wouldn't possess the offer sheets they do. It's just that Kalis with a bad back and Cole, probably due to the fact he hasn't had the time to pick up the bad habits yet, do what they've been taught for years at a lower level of the game. Indeed makes one wonder what type of drills Funk is running with these guys? We don't need a Kenn interview to point it out, but the fact he and former OL coach Hanlon, about as loyal to the school as anyone I have ever heard speak about it, both picked up on it and made sure they did so in order that the present position coaches could not ignore it. For those of you who may have missed it, the former player said "it appeared as if they were teaching them exactly what not to do and they were learning rapidly."

Boycotting the game is worse than misguided but good intentions Brandon actions. Wake the F up people. We have a sellout tradition at risk and this is important. Protest to the President fine, but dont be stupid.
